If you are sure your engine in good condition, you have to change your driving style, from aggresive style to calm style. Press your acceleration pedal smotthly and brake smoothly
Since you recently bought this car, did the seller inform you that the car had a problem? If they didn't and knew there was a problem (and 1-2 quarts a week oil consumption is something they would know) that is fraud.
Did you have oil residue on your plugs when you pulled them out and checked them? Which cylinders did you have the oil residue if any?
If you are burning 1-2 quarts of oil a week your tail pipe should be black if not oily. Is your car smoking badly? Have you considered doing a compression check to find out the health of your engine? I would if I was in your position.
Although you seem to be the handy type of guy, rebuilding an engine is not for the light hearted without a thorough mechanical background. Depending on your knowledge base and tool inventory and rebuilt engine might be the way to go.
Reverse not working is a system of the transmission having internal problems, check the fluid for a dark color and burnt smell. If the fluid is dark with a burnt smell then it is time for a overhaul or replacement.
It should not be lit when the togle button is off. If you press it again does the light stay on? It could be an issue with the dash light itself or the OD switch may not be working.
There is no easy way to get the hood open to repair the problem, here are the common ways we technicians use to get the hood open when the release or latch is broken or stuck, 1st try pulling the outside sheath of the cable that pulls the hood open, it that fails try to reach it from underneath, without a lift rack that is very hard, the 3rd is through the grille opening, after 30 years and dozens of problems like yours this is the way I approach the job of getting the hood open.
Hi, if the check engine light is on. That means the computer has detected a
problem with the fuel delivery system. The most common cause is a bad
sensor. Before taking it to a garage, have your husband check to be
sure that none of the sensors are unplugged. It's possible that one of
the wires came loose or is corroded. Also have him check for soft,
broken or unplugged vacuum hoses. If the visible check is OK, a
computer scan will have to be performed to find out what the problem
is. You can drive it to Auto Zone and they'll check the codes for you.
Good luck.
Then to answer your question...There are actually 3 fuses involved...
Your trunk release is controlled by the Theft Deterrent And Door Lock ECU. The three fuses that can affect your trunk release are:
These are all located in Junction Block #1 on the left side of the dash.
If any of these fuses are blown, there will be a bunch of other stuff also not working.
should be a button on dash/console marked O/D (it's the overdrive for your transmission) it's an economy setting for fuel mileage. Sounds like it was bumped, because most folks keep OD engaged.
is the light on for more than 5 min if yes you can diagnose the airbag light without a scanner hear free video instructions on how to diagnose the code
It's located on the right side of the engine ( when your facing it from the front). follow the lower radiator hose up to the block. There will be a L shaped piece connecting to the block. the Thermostat is located inside it.
you need to have someone load test the battery before you do anything wit the starter. A battery that is weak is very sensitive to temperature extremes. I would bet it is the battery, not the starter.
your accessory belts are slipping and burning, producing smoke. Get them checked right away before they brake and your alternator does not charge the batt. When this happens you will eventually be stranded.
How steep was this hill? It sounds like the engine oil level might have been low and the oil pump ran dry for a few seconds. If this is the case this is not good.
I would start by checking the battery voltage, even though it is new, and make sure it is at least 12.5 Volts. If not, charge it, then try to crank the engine again on the starter. If still just a clicking, you need to check to see if the engine is free to turn or if it is seized.
To do this you can put a socket and long breaker bar on the main crank pulley bolt which is the center, lower pulley on the pass. side of the vehicle. Always pull the engine in the direction that will "tighten" the pulley bolt. In this case standing on the right side, facing the left, pull towards the front of the car.
On most of these engines you should be able to turn the pulley by hand if the engine is ok.
If the engine does not turn, you have seized it, and will need a new motor, which will cost you more than you paid for the car to have someone install it for you. I hope this is not the case, but I would start with this process so you don't waste time and money.
