P0740 honda odyssey

P0740 Honda - Transmission Lock-Up Control System Fault Possible causes - Low transmission fluid level - Dirty transmission fluid - Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve - Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness is open or shorted - Torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection Tech notes On some Honda vehicles the P0740 code may be set by an overheating torque converter problem which is caused by an insufficient flow to the torque converter release circuit. P0740 Honda Description The torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, with the gear in D4, by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the vehicle speed and the Engine Control Module (ECM). Lock-up piston operation will then be controlled. When the torque converter clutch solenoid valve is activated, the torque converter lockup clutch will engage creating a 1 to 1 RPM ratio between the transmission input shaft and the rotational speed of the torque converter. Lock-up operation, however, is prohibited when A/T fluid temperature is too low. When the accelerator pedal is depressed (less than 2/8) in lock-up condition, the engine speed should not change abruptly. If there is a big jump in engine speed, there is no lock-up.

My car is a 2000 Honda accord, engine light came on checked gas cap,it was ok,shop checked it with machine and code P 1457 came up.What does it mean, & and how do i fix it?

P1457 90 EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System) Possible causes - Missing Fuel cap - Incorrect fuel filler cap used - Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close - Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap It means that your fuel tank isn't airtight. It could be a crack in the filler pipe, a loose hose or even a blown gasket at the fuel gauge sender. Your car does a vacuum check on the fuel system now and then. If it detects it's not air tight, it throws a code. Now, the gas capis the most common thing. But from the fuel filter to the filler neck something is not right. Look for a small gas leak, stick your head under the car and give it a whiff. see if you smell it, if you have a garage put sheets of news paper under your car over night and see if any leeks drip on it. There's other things but try those first.

Brake lights dont work

Are you sure the brake pedal switch is properly adjusted? You should be able to reach under the pedal with your finger and activate the brake lamp switch. There are two relays in the rear of the car by the brake lights which activate (you can hear them click) when the pedal/switch is depressed. Make sure you also have the correct lamps specified in the owners manual. Usually if the bulbs are no good you will get an indication on the instrument cluster.

Drivers side mirror does not go up or down

Does it move at all up and down? These mirrors commonly get stuck from not being moved very often. Use your hand to force it up and down. (it will make a grinding noise, no worries, it doesn't hurt the mirror.) Try it again. If it still won't move. Check the other side. if it does the same thing, the master switch is burned out. Otherwise you may need a new motor. (Yes, motor, not the whole mirror. They are available separately) Or just pick up a good used one. Good luck.
