This it's a common problem with the factory alarm; is there a fuse for it? Do you have the manual for the vehicle?
If you
disconnect the negative (black) battery cable for 20 minutes that
should clear out the car's computer (make sure you have the radio code
handy for restart if it's the factory radio - Check NOTE 2 to the end post).
This information from factory alarm disarm in the 94 Vigor:
Factory Alarm Disarm green/black - lrg harness left of fuse

Find this wire, and ground it permanently. This should disable the
factory alarm. Pay attention to all other features of the vehicle, like
domelight, etc. If the dome light stays on when you ground this wire,
you will have to hook it through a switch, then flip the switch when you
need to disarm the alarm. I would think that your driver's door key
cylinder needs to be replaced. In that cylinder is a switch that sends
ground to the wire listed. The switch is probably going bad.
The probable cause is
a bad door lock
actuator switch. The switch contacts become oxidized and they block
the “unlocked
door” signal to the security system control unit. The fix
is to replace the switches
(and their retaining clips). The switches are attached to the door
lock actuator inside
each front door.
We've also found
that the connectors
between the door actuator and the security control unit develop
corrosion over time,
causing a bad connection. Cleaning these connectors will enable a
good contact between the
door actuator and the alarm computer. The
December
02 Timely Topics article will show you how to fix this.
NOTE 1: An
aftermarket security system
will NOT fix this problem if it uses the existing switches to
determine whether a door is
unlocked.
NOTE 2:
I didn't get
the stereo anti-theft code from the previous owner. What can I do?
If you have the
serial number, your
Acura dealership can get the code for you. You'll have to
remove the
stereo to get the serial number.
Your dealership will also be more than happy to remove it for you
(at prevailing labor
rates) and re-set the stereo.
Hope this help to solve it.
