48,000 miles, shift on the fly 4x4 (does NOT have T.O.D.). Beginning just before last winter, the front axle does not engage (in other words, it does not go into 4x4 mode when I press the dash switch). Everything else is perfect, but when I press the dash switch for four wheel drive, the dash 4x4 icon blinks but the front axle will not engage. At idle I hear a 'ca-clunk' noise when I press the switch, so it's obviously trying to engage something.
SOMETIMES, if I press the 4x4 switch BEFORE starting the vehicle after it has been sitting all night, the front axle WILL engage, and the dash 4x4 icon will stay lit, and the vehicle will operate in four wheel drive mode just fine...but when I turn the 4x4 switch off, then on again while I drive, the dash light will just flash and it will not go back into 4x4. HELP PLEASE! A Canadian winter is on its way!!
hi guys i would check all the small vacume pipes that conect the sol valves toi the vacume actuators having just replaced the engen in mine i found that these do not have any clips holiding them on tight and can get oil on them and become oversized and leak you can test the diaframes in the actuators by putting a length of pipe on one port and sucking by mouth you can hear the actuator move and then find you can put toung on end of pipe and it will hold a vacume if it does not then chances are the actuator diafram id u/s hope this helps bill

Have owned this SUV since it had 6000 on the clock.
It has been well maintained with regular oil changes, etc.
For some time now, I've had to closely watch the oil level.
It is now going through a quart every 600 miles.
I think this is a sign of something very bad to come.
I've already had to put a trans in it, burned up at 82,000 miles.
There are absolutely no leaks, I've gone over it thoroughly.
Burning a quart every 600 miles must indicate something serious.
Do you agree? Any ideas?
Thanks
Vic
600 perquart miles is a piston ring sealing issue, U don't say the miles on the car, but it is rings.

abs light on dash is lit brakes are good
Did some research and found that the module that connects to the ABS pump (next to battery) to be the problem. ISUZU wanted $3,200.00 to fix it. Bought one off of a wreck for $146.99 (LOL, yep, $146.99). Removed battery, disconnected the large cable going to the ABS, unclipped the 3 brake line clips on the top of the fender so the ABS pump could be removed and swapped the electronic modules- did not have to penetrate the brake lines at all. Took me 20 minutes. Restarted Trooper and ABS light went out.

Need to replace heater fan blower motor
The blower is under the dash behind the glove box and the under splash under the glove box needs to remove to seee the motor housing. it'll have a heavy (10 Ga.) two wire connector hooked to the motor look at the new one to see where the bolts are and after the wire is removed take out all the bolts and the motor shoul come staight down. look for water or birds nests mice or other things that caused the motor to fail as this doesn't happen very often that the motor failed and there quite expensive. You may have to check first that the motor is getting both power and ground as the blower resistor can fail ( commom) and the motor won't run and the fuse can blow and may be the motor is bad if the fuse blew but check as this can save you lots of time and money. Correct any prblems that were around the fan blade including it needs to be clean. and the wire connections clean and tight. If you can knock on the motor and get it to run the connector needs to be cheaked and cleaned. If the motor sounds like its running smothly it may be OK and the connections need cheaked and cleaned then wiggled to make sure they will stay good as you drive, A wore out motor may stop if you shake it or push and pull on the wire if you can't get it to stay on change the motor as it's worn out used ones may work asthe dealer part will cost enough to make you think twice

4jx1 camshaft marks on isuzu trooper 2001 3,0 dohc engine
the timming gear that the belt runs on has a mark (V cut in gear) to rear cover at about 12 o clock and crank pulley has timming mark for top dead centre, both cams have cut outs in rear that a special tool (camshaft stopper 5-8840-2592-0) locks into to hold cams in correct position, but can do without this, if the cam belt gear is off, the keyway should be at 12 o clock. the marks in the camshaft gears (dots) is for assembly of sissor gears to solid gears on camshafts that run together and they should match up only if you had this appart.
no.1 is timming mark
this is the locking plate tool

P0101 ISUZU - Mass Air Flow Circuit Performancehttp://engine-codes.com/p0101_isuzu.htmlForum CodePossible causes- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Mass air flow sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Intake air leaks
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
Tech notes Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor

What's your problem?01 isuzu trooper 3.0L 4 wheel drive was working but its not now.the green light is on solid when ignition is on but when started and dash button pushed in the green light flashes i hear a small click and it flashes faster but i cannot get 4 wheel drive.i checked everything i can think of on the 4x4 system and some plugs seem to not have power coming to them but i think they might just be a signal wire with switch on end of them.but when lying under jeep and button is pushed in and out by someone else i hear no gear/shaft or cog engagement sounds.i checked solenoid vsv's(vacuum suction valves) and there working fine clicking in and out but on the blue solenoid vsv there is never any suction on the vacuum pipe coming from it going to the actuater on passenger side front axel.can someone please tell me what is the culpret here causing this problem.everything eles on jeep works fine i followed all wires i could see and there ok from what i could see and i cannot move the high/4L gear stick at any time.i have no manual for this jeep either.some help on this subject would be very appreciated.has anyone any ideas?
have also had same problem, green light flashing on my isuzu trooper 3.0
check to see if drive prop shaft is engaged firstly, first step for front wheels engaging, then 2 more solenoids are under engine front of jeep, one coloured blue one grey, these work with vacuum, if i remember blue for engaging drive grey for disengaging, inside solinoids small tiny piston, could be stuck as mine was, can be taken apart & cleaned, reason sticking is moist in vacuum system, & not being used as 4 wheel drive until winter months, hope this helps
