The gear shift lever(on the automatic

If the lever is moving very easy and doesn't have the normal clicking feel, then most likely, part of the linkage has become disconnected. It will all be on the drivers side, so crawl under the truck and have someone shift the linkage with the truck OFF and you should spot the fault. If all seems normal and you see the lever moving on the transmission, then either the trans is bad, or simply too low on fluid to operate OR has a completely plugged filter...

If your problem is that you can't move the shift lever, some require that you put your foot on the brake before the shift lever is unlocked. It is either cable or electrically locked. If that is the case, you can bypass the lockout by removing the steering column cover and pu;;ing the cable or solenoid. I don't remember the exact procedure, but as I recall, it is relatively simple to do.

Where is the pcv valve located on a 1993 ford

I'll do my best to explain. The PCV is located center, upper engine area, driver side of engine, between engine block and intake manifold, mounted in vacuum hose. I hope you got that and that it helps you. Good luck.

Misses when I accelerate , idles just fine

apply brake and accelerate engine while vehicle is standing still, you need to apply brake hard, DO NOT do this for a period of more than 1 minute or you will be putting alot of stress on your transmission. you will be trying to set off the "check engine" warning lamp or the "service engine soon" warning lamp, and get a misfire failure code, after code sets on your vehicle computer, get it scanned it will tell you which engine cylinder is misfiring ie "P0301= cylinder #1 misfire" then check out spark plug, spark plug wire and ignition coil. one of them is probably causing this.

1993 ranger will turn over but will not crank.

See if the fuel filter is clogged. If that's not the issue the fuel pump most likely needs to be replaced.

Sputtering-missing-vibrating-knocking-backfire-bucking

I'm having the same problem with my 90 2.3L Ranger. I replaced the EGR Valve back in August and the truck ran fine (but the gas mileage was bad) until late December . I knew it needed an O2 Sensor back in August but didn't replace it until last Saturday along with the Idle Air Control Valve, Plugs and Wires. The truck ran fine for a couple minutes then started running like a VW bug! My code reader is now throwing out an EGR failure code, so I guess i'll take the 4 month EGR back and get a new one, and see what that does!_549.jpg

Location of nutral safety switch

Assuming that the truck is an automatic and NOT a stick, look for flat black box with wire's coming out of it on the DRIVER'S SIDE of the transmission. The box should be located arond the linkage shaft(meaning where the medal rod connect's to the side of the transmission)

Heard a pop and truck jerked to left jacked it up

It sounds like one of your ball joints broke, or it could be the tie rod end. Either way, you are extremely lucky it didn't cause serious accident.

My 1993 ford Ranger was in an accident, and now

The inertia switch has disabled the fuel pump. You will need to find the reset button. On most fords it is in the passenger side foot well kickpanel, or just under the dash where the carpet and the dash meet. I will try to find the exact location for you.

1993 Ford Ranger Splash. 4.0l w/ automatic.

Hi there hope i can help
there are about 5 possible sources of this problem
  • intermediate band out of adjustment: you can do this at home touque it down to 35-45 ft-lbs then back it out 2 whole turns and that will adjust it
  • Improper band or clutch application, or oil pressure control system: perform control pressure test.
  • Intermediate servo leaking: Preform air pressure test of the intermediate servo for leakage service as required
  • Overdrive clutch, O/D one-way clutch damaged. replace as required. (rebuild)
  • Glazed Band: Service or replace (rebuid)
If this helps please give feed back
good luck hope all works out

I went to work today

First determine if either of the wheel cylinders or calipers are leaking. Be sire to check the brake flex lines as well. If all the hydraulics are dry, look at the master cylinder where it attaches to the Brake Booster. On the bottom, below the Master Cyl, is it dry or does it look like there is some leakage? If it is wet, and all the above check out OK, then I would replace the Master Cylinder.
Be sure to bench bleed the master cylinder first, before installing on Vehicle.
