I finally received the answer to this problem with my '06 Rainier CXL. The front gear pack (in mine) needs to be replaced. Vehicle is driving AWD, all the time. Expensive repair- $1600. Mine has 93+K miles, the engine is in awesome condition. To repair or not to repair... that is my struggle.

We replaced our idler pulley that the serpentine belt runs on twice. It cost us roughly $20 and only about half hour to switch it out.

You wasted your time at Advanced Auto --because they
won't explain what needs to be done & you wouldn't understand
anyway

Go to a repair shop--they have to use the proper professional
scan tools & testing procedures, along with reference material

It has to be component tested

This procedure has been with us for 32 years now,
any time you get any dash lights or codes

You don't have the ability to do but one thing

That is have a repair shop daignose & component
test according to codes using specail tools & skills

You have steering sensor, abs braking & traction or
mechanical issues, three problems maybe & only
2 that maybe be tied together
