I can't seem to get my check engine light to work,
Hi,
I'm a little confused. You want it to come on?
The check engine light comes on when you have a problem with the engine or drive train. If it hasn't come on, that's a good thing. It's not meant to be a reminder to check oil or anything like that.,, Please clarify? Thanks!

check the fuses in the fuse box.then you can try the signal lights to check the lights on the back.if they work then the bulbs are good.then check the brake switch on the bottom of the colume near the firewall.its not uncommon for a wire to brake and cause a problem.

Sounds like a really bad vacuum leak to me. Check the PCV hose where it goes in behind the throttle body. Those are notorious for the rubber elbows getting all mushy and imploding and getting large holes in them.
96 crown Victoria lights flickering on and off
This problem is caused by a heat damaged headlight switch and the connector to it, replace both parts, the connector is available as a repair part as well as the switch. When you replace the connector (A MUST DO!) SOLDER IT ON, NO SPLICE CONNECTORS! Shrink tube the connections. If you don't replace both parts then the new switch will quickly fail again and back to blinking headlights.
