What does O/O OFF indicater light signify?
Are you sure the light is O/O OFF and not O/D OFF
I own this model trick and the O/D OFF is for the automatic overdrive button/ switch on the tip of the gear shift lever.
Used for driving on steep roads as a way to control decent and not burn up the brakes in an attempt to slow down too quickly.
I hope this answer helps :-)

This should be a Ford engine - so according to the RangerStation website, the code is for the cam position synchronizer sensor is not installed correctly or not working. The sensor is telling the computer the cam timing is off.You may need a book or internet search to test it and repair it.

Mercury mystique 1995 back lihgt never go on
If you are talking about the back-up lights, check the bulbs and the back-up light fuse. You could have a problem with the switch which is part of the neutral safety switch on the transaxle. If the brake lights don't work, could be the bulbs, the brake light switch, a fuse, or the turn signal switch.

My check engine is on
The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.
When the Check Engine/Service Engine Soon light (Varies by make) is turned on the computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible faults that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free.

When shifting from drive to
Hello Mutt.
You have a problem in the speed sensor.
The sensor is mounted at the rear of the transmission and is turned by a nylon gear.
I suspect that you may have some worn parts in the transmission that may be allowing the gear to gear contact to the speed sensor to slip.
You could try to replace the speed sensor and the sensor gear only as the new gear may allow better contact. (The replacement sensor does not always come with a new gear)
The engine and the transmission rely on the speed sensor for proper fuel and shifting control. This is what will cause your hesitation.
Thank you for using FixYa.

If fuse 13 is good, the probelm is likely to be your brake switch above the pedal. Remove the connector from the switch and connect the terminals in the connector using a large paper clip. If this turns the stop lights on, replace the switch. Please let me know if you have any questions.

What could be wrong if
First check the brake light switch,to see if current gets to bothsides or through the switch, with the peddle down,so it will direct the current to the brake lites. If it is dead on both sides, check the source to it from the turn signal switch,in the steering column.
