parking brake pedal goes to floor

I installed new rotors, brake pads and parking brake shoes on rear wheels on my 2003 Chevy Suburban 1500 Z71. Parking brake pedal still goes to the floor and parking brake barely holds the vehicle. I've engaged the parking brake pedal several times and released it, but the problem still exists.

Hello;
The parking brake cables may be stretched and in need of adjustment. Follow the cables along to a nut. Then you can tighten the adjusters up on both sides until you have the proper tension. Also make certain none of the brackets are bent or broken that the cables ride through.
Thanks;

chevy pick-up spare tire hoist won't release

2005 chevy pickup. When trying to lower tire, cable just drops through spindle holding tire. Apparently there is a safety secondary lock that is meant to prevent tire from dropping unannounced. Manual says in this case you have to use a jack to push spindle up into hoist to release it. Not working. If I had a flat on a dark rainy night on a busy highway, I'd be screwed. Heck, I'm screwed, and I'm in my driveway. Any ideas how to get tire down. Manual also state that once you've used this release method, hoist is ruined and must be replaced. What is chevy's solution to this ****?

Sugerinimo's idea is good but I good not get it too work.. Well, this can be easier or a bit harder. Mine was harder. You are stuck on the secondary tire lock. There is a process in your manual that involves lowering the tire as far as it goes with the secondary lock, then placing your tire jack under the center of the tire holder and jack it back up until its tight to the frame - this should release the secondary lock. In my case this did not work. Plan B, is grab a 15 mm socket, small extension and ratchet. Lower the tire as far as it goes. Locate the 15mm bolt that attaches the tire hanger to the frame, undo the bolt, the hanger is then swinging from the back, lift up the tire and bracket and it will fall off. be careful the tire is heavy.
Next on the top of the tire you will see a rubber cover the secondary lock slides into. Pull down the boot. You will see two holes along the bottom on the opposite side to the crank. Turn the bottom part of the lock. If you look in the holes you can see where the catch is. Take a slot screw driver and hammer, line up the catch and tap it back in.
The secondary lock is now free.
Remember when reinstalling the bolt on the frame to use some locktite.

first check your power steering fluid. the system that this truck uses is called hydro boost and is fed hydraulically through the power steering pump. if it is low on fluid, it will have an affect on the ease of the brake pedal. the other youre going to need to have your charging system tested if you havent already. if you have what were the results?

If you touched any of the A/C controls within 45 seconds of starting your Suburban (after the battery change), you messed up the 'calibration mode' of the HVAC.

Pull the HVAC fuse (10amp) under the hood, and pull the two adjacent fuses (30 and 10amp) under the dash listed as 'climate control' in the manual.

Push the fuses back in, restart your car, but DONT TOUCH ANY of the A/C controls for 90 seconds.

I bet the A/C starts working again normally.

Diagnosis with a scan tool may indicate a DTC B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044.

Cause
The most likely cause of any one of the following DTCs: B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 is improper connection/high resistance in the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 and/or C222.

Diagnostic Information
DTC B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 will set when one of the following conditions occur:
• The SDM detects the air bag module deployment loop resistance is greater than 4.8 ohms for 500 milliseconds.
• The SDM detects that the voltage at the air bag module high control is less than 2.4 volts and deployment loop resistance is 6 ohms or greater for 500 milliseconds.
• For additional diagnostic information, refer to DTC B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 in the appropriate SI Document.

Correction

DO THIS

Don't Do This
DO NOT replace SIR system components prior to testing for proper connection/high resistance in C221 and/or for DTCs B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044.

Caution: When performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, the SIR system must be disabled. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones. Failure to observe the correct procedure could cause deployment of the SIR components, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

Important: The IP harness to inflatable restraint module connectors C221 or C222 is NOT located at the base of the steering column...
• C221 (4 Cavities) -- I/P Harness to Body Harness, behind the left kick panel
• C222 (4 Cavities) (w/o HP2) -- I/P harness to body harness, behind the right kick panel
• C222 (4 Cavities) (w/HP2) -- Behind the left side I/P access panel
• Refer to the Master Electrical Component List for additional location information.

1. Remove the appropriate side door sill plate.
2. Remove the appropriate side hinge pillar panel.
3. Locate the IP harness to inflatable restraint module yellow 4-way connector C221 or C222.
4. Inspect the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 or C222 for proper connection.
5. Disconnect and reconnect the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 or C222 THREE times.
6. Clear the DTC and road test the vehicle.
• If DTCs B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 DOES NOT reset, no additional repairs are necessary. Continue with step 10.
• If DTCs B0013, B0014, B0017, B0018, B0024, B0026, B0043, B0044 DOES reset, the most likely cause is high resistance in the IP harness to inflatable restraint module connector C221 or C222. Continue with the next step.

    Removing the Starter
  1. Step 1 Open the hood to access the engine compartment. Disconnect the battery by unscrewing the positive and negative terminals. This will prevent the risk of electrical shock.
  2. Step 2 Crawl under the passenger side of the truck and locate the starter. The starter is positioned between the transmission and the engine.
  3. Step 3 Unbolt the negative and positive wires from the starter with a socket wrench. Take the nut off the stud and pull the wires off the stud. Repeat the same for the positive wire.
  4. Step 4 Unscrew the two bolts holding the starter to the frame. Wiggle the starter to work it free from the flywheel.
    Installing the Starter
  5. Step 1 Position the new starter onto the frame. Tighten the bolts to secure the starter in place.
  6. Step 2 Unscrew the nut on the positive stud and push the positive wire down on the stud. Tighten the nut on the stud to secure the positive wires.
  7. Step 3 Unscrew the nut on the negative stud. Push the negative wire on the stud and tighten the nut to the stud to secure the wire.
  8. Step 4 Connect the battery cables to the terminals. Ensure the positive wire connects to the positive terminal. Ensure the negative wire connects to the negative terminal.
  9. Step 5 Start the truck to ensure the starter is functioning correctly. The starter should catch as soon as you turn the key and start the truck.

if the transmission fluid level is fine, and the fluid doesnt look black, or smell burnt, id say you need a new seal in the front pump, or possibly a preasure solenoid. Id have it scanned by like autozone or someplace like that, and see if its throwing a code.... either way it sounds like a pressure issue.

There is a pink wire with a white strip located under hood fuse box. pull the lid then pull second large cover . It has two tangs that face engine, Lift the plastic off the tangs. I took a pic of what you should see. bottom left of pic you will see a red looks like a wire in my pic but is shrink tube pointing where the harness goes under the fues box. The harness rubs on the plastic and puts a cut in the wires, where after time it corrodes. My wire was not broke in half so inspect wire for the cut You must take the bus box out, its not that hard to do. You will need a 7mm, 10mm, 13mm and a small flat screw driver. Each harness only fits its spot so you can't mess it up. It takes about and hour to do for the person that dont know what there doing. Use shrink tube and if you take a 1/4 vack hose slice down one side and glue it to the plastic on fues box where it rubs to insure it don't happen again in the same spot.
