2002 Jetta 1.8t. Cooling fans not working and AC

First thing you do is check fuses which are located driver side door side of the dash and 2nd fuse location is on top of battery
If fuses check ok next you turn on car allowing car to warm up and turn on the air condtioning full blast this should turn on both fans automaticly. Give time for car to warm up reach at half way mark on temperature gauge or air conditioning wont turn on fans automaticly if engine is to cold. If both fans turn on than your fans are not the problem. Next would be the cooling fan switch which is located on the radiator on the driver side lower bottom. It has 3 wires to it disconnect the switch and jump the wires that are parallel to each other and this should turn on your fans. Only if you give time for car to warm up reach at half way mark on temperature gauge. Its very important that the car is warmed up your guage should be reading half of the temperature gauge or none of theses tests which I explain will work. If the fans turn on when you jump the connectors than the problem is the cooling fan control thermal switch(costs $40)but if the fans dont turn on than I am sorry. Finally if all theses tests pass you have a real expensive problem or time consuming problem.

How to test cooling fan control module vw jetta 2001

The cooling fan module is located below the radiator over flow tank. The discharge from the overflow tank discharges hot collant directly onto the module. Every time mine stops working we take the two wiring harness plugs off and find coolant inside the plugs...(we had to use a set of brake spring plyers to get the large plug to snap back into place) I'm gonna move the cooling module and associated wires n plugs out from under the overflow tank - dry everything off (for the third time) and see if this solves the problem.

02 VW Jetta locks, remote, lights, windows stopped working

Same problem with an '03 Golf--remote entry, power windows, and interior lights stopped working. This was easily fixed by replacing fuse #14, (10 amp), located in the driver's side fuse block.

Trys to start but wont stay running?

Check the air filter housing. If it's been sitting for a long time, maybe there's a mouse nest or other restriction, causing no air to flow through it. Also sometimes the immobilizer can cause the car to crank and catch but not stay running. Try another key if you have all of them.

How do i set timing marks for 2002 jetta 4 tdi 1.9 injector pump

timing is set on the alh tdi with a specialize set of tools, you have a holding tool for the crank, a pin type to hold the injector pump and a bar type tool to hold the camshaft. this will set the timing to basic settings when doing a timing belt job. you must then use the computer diagnostic specialized tool to set timing properly. Again, you will need specialized tools to perform this repair. Vag-com or vcds by ross-tech works very well if you are thinking about buying your own. Cheers, Greg

How to replace a rear wheel bearing hub?

Remove brake components, remove centre cover to expose securing nut, remove nut and using a 3 jaw puller remove the bearing and hub. The inner race will remain on the spindle and will need to be cut off being carefully not to cut the spindle. I use a cutting torch to achieve this. ER the spindle cool befor installing the new bearing/hub assy. Don't forget to torque the nut to spec. I can't remember offhand what it is but if you over tighten it the braring life will be reduced. Also use a new nut as they are one time use and may loosen over time if reused.
Good luck!

The reverse wouldn't engage on my friends 2002 vw jetta 2.0 someone else replaced the master and slave. when you first turn on the car it whistles and when trying to shift it grinds. I took the slave

Could be a bad throw out bearing causing the whistle, and perhaps the other issue as well. Reverse is hardest gear to engage smoothly as it is not synchronized. Try re-bleeding the system and insure none of the linkage parts are worn. Also make sure the trans is correctly filled with fluid.

I have a 2002 jetta 2.0 4cyl 4dr, my problem is when I try to start the car it back fires thru the intake? What could be causing this to have. The car has sat for over 18 months due to a transmission

sitting for so long it is possible that an inlet valve has seized in the slightly open position. on starting it may have bent the inlet valve if it was stuck. Might have to have a compression test done to see if there is a valve problem
