Open the engine hood by pulling the hood release latch located on the lower kick panel on the driver's side of the Volvo S40. Lift the hood up and prop it on the hood prop.

Locate the steering shaft that extends from the firewall to lower suspension located inside the engine compartment, by the front right wheel. Halfway down the shaft, you will locate the power steering pump. The pump is a black container that bolts to the driver's side of the engine block. On the top, you will find a cap that says "Power Steering Fluid."

Look to the left of the cap. Bolted to the power steering pump is the thermostat temperature sensor. The sensor has a black round cap and a black wire extending out of the top.

Hello. Remove your car's air filter by 'releasing 2 metal clasps on the air filter box and remove air filter. 3-4 bolts are under the air filter. Disconnect/release clamps and lift out air filter box. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.
Volvo s40 2005 starting but not accelarating
Do you have anymore information. If so please forward everything you have regarding this problem. If the car is starting, running but not accelerating there may be a problem with the accelerator pedal position sensor or related circuit. Usually the engine light will turn on because the EMC identified a fault and a code or codes will be stored. If the engine light is on or flashing please have the codes read.
