1960 Volkswagen Beetle Questions & Answers
1966 Volkswagen Beetle cuts out while driving. required a tow back twice
Not totally clear on your situation. If your car will start after setting for a while (let's say several hours), and will idle fine but then die after being driven, only to not start again for some time (an hour or even longer) then you are pulling garbage from your tank into the strainer in the fuel pick up. You probably need to have your tank cleaned. Good time to replace filters as well.
Fix clutch cable
Removal
Raise the rear of the vehicle and support if securely on jackstands after loosening the lug bolts of the left rear wheel. Take off the wheel.
Find the clutch release lever on the upper left side of the transaxle and unhook the cable from the lever.
Remove the pedal cluster and unhook the clutch cable from the clutch shaft.
Pull the clutch cable forward, through the center tunnel, and out the hole for the pedal cluster.
Installation
Coat the new cable with multi-purpose grease.
Find the front end of the cable guide tube by reaching into the hole for the brake and clutch pedal cluster. Grasp the tube with your fingers and insert the new cable into the tube.
After you ve started the cable into the tube, push it to the rear, through the tube. If you need to, lubricate the cable with multi-purpose grease as you push it into the tube.
The "sag", or bend, in the clutch cable guide tube is important - the friction it imposes on the cable minimizes clutch chatter. To alter the sag, install or remove washers between the holding bracket and the end of the cable tube.
Now adjust the clutch pedal freeplay.
2003 beetle with ABS and brake light on. What should I do?
so all std brakes are good? pads, rotors and calipers? if not and are bad ABS goes mad, ABS is last to fix, not first OK>
abs can not hid for example, a brake caliper piston rusted to *****
after 19 years..old.(and will be that old I say how can it no be so?>)
all that and not one DTC posted (ALL) HERE ? amazing this...
and when you replace any part here, reset the all DTC now with the scan tool, buy one, you can not fix (diy) modern cars with no tool.
or rotor guide pins seized, fix the mechanical brakes first.!!!
they all must be good, end to end ,sure a weak pad (a tad) the ABS can hide it. well kinda. (normal wear yes, ugly no)
or take the car to a real brake shop and watch them and learn the craft and skills. or take An ASE brake course.
nobody here can guess what is wrong or done wrong, that be impossible other than a simple pep talk,.
Where is the windshield washer fuse located on a 2012 VW bettle
If you are trying to squirt water from the wiper jets and nothing happens, you need to replace the fuse. The fuse is located within the fuse box in the engine bay, open the lid and see which one needs to be replaces using the provided map on the cover. If there is no map, follow this link for a copy: https://www.autogenius.info/volkswagen-new-beetle-fuse-box-diagram/
Car bogs down epc light
epc is short for electronic pedal control, the throttle is controlled by an electric motor and has two angle sensors in the throttle body. the pedal it self has two sensors as well, sometimes after a battery replacement or replacement of certain parts (ecm throttle body pedal controls) the control modules need to be reset or "relearned" to one another. the dealer or independent shop with correct softwear can do this, if problem persists possible bad throttle body pedal sensors or ecm (engine control module)
