so is an automatic, unlike my 6speed? m/t-? ok the a/T check all fuses yet? check A/T fluid levels per manual, dont guess, dont overfill it.? is the fluid pink red, or brown or black? did you connect a scan tool to see if there are DTC errors from trans,? that be first, did you, if not ?, its all gue$$ work.

I always add an inline fuse to anything that is not factory.

battery is dead. check fuses, the clicking is the starter relay that is its job is to click. but if it rattles that means low battery what we do is a AAA jumper of battery, jump start battery with a donor car. if it starts now. then. 1: the battery was only discharged , so charge it. 2: or if it repeats the battery is bad. OR 3: if the voltage is not 13.3 to 15v running the alternator is shut down. easy huh, just 3 checks.

Go to Chrysler web site and search for recalls for you jeep.

check fuses. first.

this is easy, the fsm covers it, but you dont need it. you grab any volt meter. connect it to the grid, (20vdc range) and it read 12vdc on. if it does the grid is bad if not relay is bad ,the fuses, or the switch that turns on the relay is bad all can be found easy with the $10 walfart voltmeter. VOM, or DMM) do the one test, and post back, can peep the onion as deep as you want ,step by step. if want.

If it is a light ticking noise it could be something as simple as tappits on rocker arms. valves pinging..........IF it is a ticking and not a KNOCKING noise then i would have another mechanic take a look at it...Sad thing that happens is some mechanics will give wrong suggestion for the simple fact of making your wallet lighter.... not saying this is the caes but something this costly needs more than one mechanics opinion. My suggestion would be have another mechanic look at it not telling what the first mechanics opinion was and then see how they compare..... hope this info helps and good luck....Please rate my post.

the users guide partially and for sure the SM service manual covers that. so it blows out right.? that is a 1998 TJ jeep real name if USA i have real oEM book here, on it , fully chapter 8w is wiring all 8w-10- is power distribution there are 2 fuse 19 , one under hood and one cab. so hood it is Left hand drive, USA, LHD the PDC fuse box has lid and F19 is marked there A/c clutch] first is F19>> clutch relay>>> AC clutch

nothing on dash means the whole IP cluster is dead.? IGN power comes form KEY switch page 8w-11 IGN switch wire BK-DG , 12vdc key on. if not fuse14 blown 20ams and goes to the battery direct. all fuses in the PDC must good, and now dead batteries or its 4 cable logs ends, loose or rusty. end. fuse 10 and and F24 kills the cluster. and f15 fuse is 10 head lamps too and a CB breaker. fuse 7 dead kills park /neutral switch ,
