a dirty lens in the dvd can do this buy a dvd lens cleaner disc.

It is new and within the period of warranty. Contact the manufacturer and either have them run you through the process of repair or send it back for factory adjustment. Don't void the warranty by messing with it yourself.

I Has the same problem with my BD player and solved it by cleaning the optics. Its a quit tricky procedure because you have to remove the back cover of the optics system. Be carefull when removig that you first ground the optics as discribed in the service manual. then dismantel the optics and remove the 2 screws from the backcover. And use a small knife to lift the backcover. After doing this all mirrors and prismas are visible and can be cleaned with a qtip or soft paper.
