Polaroid Ion - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
I have a Ion digistal
Hi there,
You should be about to just plug the camera into your computer using the supplied USB cable.
A dialogue box should open asking if you want to import the photos.
From there you can just copy/paste the photo files onto your computer.
Can't find my installation disk.
You could try to look it up on Polaroid.com
Most computers newer than 10 year old have plug and play. Which means they automatically recognize new things plugged in and make the necessary drivers automatically.
(Make sure you have an internet connection when you plug it in, because your PC may download driver materials automatically)
Try plugging in the camera and wait to see what the computer does. If a small window opens at the lower right saying device or camera was installed correctly, you will then be able to access the camera like just another hard drive on your system.
Open My Computer or Explorer and it will appear with all the other hard drives like:
OS (C:)
RECOVERY( D:)
DVD/CD-RW-Drive (E:)
and so on...
the camera will appear as another new drive (letter:)
You can then open and navigate the folders on the camera select (highlight) photo's you wish to keep and drag them to the folder on your C: drive where you store pictures, or for most people: My Documents / My Pictures.
If you are on a MAC computer good luck, I don't know if they have plug and play?
I personally don't ever load installation disks as long as my computer recognizes the camera or device. Extra software on installation CD's take up more space and often ad stuff to your computers start up which then makes your computer slower by running the software all the time. With plug and play you only use computer processing as needed (when it's plugged in)

Can no longer put pictures in computer: USB Error; need new cable
You will need to contact Polaroid and register with them . Log on to the site and mention your complaint asking for the nearest location for buying the cable/software. If you are able to order online ask for the store and get connected. Hope you are able to get through. Good day
Need software and driver for ion digital camera
This type of camera is mostly designed and made in China, and is usually unsupported in vista. For XP you can try installing the driver came in a CD along with your device.
You can also try for alternate way.
If the camera uses a memory card, you can buy a card reader.
Then you do not have to install any of the software that came with the camera.
Any store that sells digital cameras will sell memory card readers.
Prices run from $10 to $20.
You can attach the card reader to your computer USB port and Vista will recognize the reader as being a new hard disk. Vista will load the correct drivers.
After that is done, install the memory card (full of photos) into the card reader.
Then you can use Windows Explorer or My Computer to find the new hard disk (which will be the memory card). Use drag and drop to move the photos to your computer.

I'm not a huge fan of some software designed to speed up a computer... often causes more problems then it solves.... four programs to download should solve alot of problems... ccleaner.. spybot s&d, auslogics defrag and auslogic registry defrag. if you have troubles finding these programs let me know i'll provide links to each one. after you have them leave a message here i'll explain each one to you.
