Please i have a 17inch multimedia philips

While I have no idea what "F.B.T" is, it sounds like you might well have a broken connection where that electrolytic cap is soldered to the circuit board. Solder points often fail and it's also very common for those caps to go bad, but they're very cheap and easy to replace. Try resoldering the 2 connection points first (use a low wattage soldering iron to avoid damaging the board), and if that doesn't help then try replacing the cap with one of the same capacitance (in mfd or ufd) and same (or even slightly higher) voltage rating. The exact physical size of the replacement cap isn't critical as long as it fits.

Hi, please consider that you have an issue with power supply of your CRT. Before checking any possible active components on it, first check the power switch. Then proceed to check power capacitor in the power supply.

Computer not recognizing new Philips monitor. It tries to run set up and the Windows Logo Screen shows up but it just goes back to the set up screen. I've tried each mode available.

It would seem something is stopping your computer booting and you suspect it is the monitor. It could be or it might be coincidence and the new monitor has highlighted software problems that have accumulated over time or perhaps your graphics card cannot deliver the performance your new monitor needs. I suggest you test the monitor on a different computer to ensure it works ok and then try it on your own machine after fitting a different hard drive and reloading the operating system so you know it is clean and bug-free. If that fails I suggest you try with a different graphics card.

Bought a new screen yesterday, and is seems that every letter has i white shade before it.

Go into the setup menu for the video card in your computer and tone down the sharpness control. Watch the monitor when you're doing that so you don't make it out of focus.
