Does it mean my adapter

The Linksys adapter should have a program you open to find and connect to your router. If not, you can use the Windows Network settings to find your router and connect. Although 54G is a slower speed, they should still connect.

I want to connect d'link 2640t to linksys

This is too involved to just post your router settings. I would recommend reading up on how to "cascade" your router or to make your Modem/Router act as a bridge. The dlink will need to have its DNS disabled and have the Linksys do the DNS. Then the LInksys will be using the Dlink as its host. you may be better off seeing if you can make the dlink run in Gateway mode instead of router mode. Then see how to implement the cascading router with your particular situation and WAN IP.

I have a linksys wireless router (WAG160n) and

You will need to install an WIFI extender in the front room of your office which will then extend the signal to the rest of the out building. I've included a link on Amazon to a very simple, easy to set-up extender that you can set-up with the push of a button. Once you set-up/configured the extender near your existing router following the simple instructions, you can then move it to the front of your office. Best of luck! I have a WRT610N Linksys

Depending on your needs as to the type of router, there are a few different ways of finding the problem/repair/replacement. I used to have a Linksys N router, that I had connection with a wiFi tower system and it worked great. I got it at Walmart for $49.00 but do not know if they carry them anymore, or not. Routes can be found many places, and depending on what you need counts, as for WiFi, or hardwire. I found this on the net, you may want to try it:

My notebook connect to the internet with lan or wireless through my Linksys WRT610N but I cannot connect to the external hd connected to the router since upgrading to Windows 8 (different user name)

It is looking for the password for your disk, not the wifi password. This is a common issue when people connect a disk to a network as the user name and password are not compatible. The easiest solution is to ensure that the password and user name on your disk are the same as the user name and password on your computer. If this does not work, then it may be that the user who created the files on your disk is not the same as the user who wants to access them. This is one of the security features on the later versions of windows. The users may be you in both cases, but if the user name is different, then you will have trouble getting access. It is a bit involved changing the security and permissions to get around this, so I suggest you find a friend who knows how to do this, and who can show you what you need to do. The easiest way is to ensure that all files are read and write accessible by "everyone" where "everyone" is a windows guest user.

The general rule for WiFi is to have the router placed at a reasonable height above the items that wish to use it. This is because the radio waves travel downwards It was probably a repeater that was recommended to boost the signal.

My wireless internet stopped working.

When you plug in the ethernet cable the corresponding numbered indicator on the router should flash to indicate a LAN connection and some data flow from the router to the computer. This does not necessarily mean that there is data flow from the internet to your computer via the router. Simple check would be to use a smartphone and try and connect to WiFi on the router but restart the router first. If the smartphone is also having problems then the problem may be with your internet provider or the router. If the smartphone connects then restart the computer. If the computer still does not connect then try the following steps to refresh the computers IP address: For Windows XP Step 1 Click Start->Run, type cmd and press Enter. Step 2 Type ipconfig /release at the prompt window, press Enter, it will release the current IP configuration. Step 3 Type ipconfig /renew at the prompt window, press Enter, wait for a while, the DHCP server will assign a new IP address for your computer. For Windows Vista& Windows 7 Step 1 Click Start on the task bar, type cmd into the search box and press Enter. Step 2 Type ipconfig /release at the prompt window, press Enter, it will release the current IP configuration. Step 3 Type ipconfig /renew at the prompt window, wait for a while, the DHCP server will assign a new IP address for your computer. For Windows 8 & Windows 8.1&10 Step 1 Press windows key and X key at the same time. Then click at Command Prompt. Step 2 Type ipconfig /release at the Command Prompt window, press Enter, it will release the current IP configuration. Step 3 Type ipconfig /renew at the Command Prompt window, wait for a while, the DHCP server will assign a new IP address for your computer. Hope that helps. https://fastproactiveit.com/ Proactive IT Support PC Repairs Laptop Repairs Custom Built PC Leading IT...

How Do I Make the Linksys WRT160n Wireless-N Only

Hello, Sit at your computer and open up IE browser. After this has opened up, go up to the url bar and erase anything there and when this is blank, type in http://192.168.1.1 then hit the enter key. The router should now pop up a login menu close to the middle of your monitor. The default password for Linksys routers is ADMIN leave the user name blank and just enter the password ADMIN This then will open up the routers main menus and at the top of the tabs look for the tab named "wireless" click on this tab and look this menu over and you should find the box to check or uncheck to accomplish what you want done. Good luck. By the way, while your in the routers menu "Change the Default Password" to something that you have to write down! leaving the password set the the factory default is a huge mistake. Like leaving all your windows and doors open going on a long vacation! Got it? Dennis
