Your optical drive is not reading the disk properly - a common issue as time goes by. Replace drive with a good known working unit and your recovery operation will take place.

Does it see any satellites and simply fail to lock on any of them or it hardly sees any? certainly , if you have all drivers installed ok as per itronics guide, then its a hardware issue.. antenna or some loosness up there. hope that helps.

Hi I am Steve and hopefully we can help get you issue resolved and you can get your GPS working.
My initial solution is based on the information you have posted, so please accept my apologies if you have already tried these steps.
The following steps are the typical steps we take in diagnosing Computer faults.

1. The first step is the simple "turn it off and on again" - I know it can sound trite but sometimes the Computer just gets a bit out of sync when starting.
   
   
2. Assuming that does not work it is then time to try updating the drivers - for Windows XP click here or for Windows 2000 click here.

Please let me know once these steps are complete and if you still have the issue we can move onto further diagnostics to isolate and resolve your issue.

BIOS is used for controlling hardware. It is a small software program, which is loaded in Hard Disk/ROM (read-only memory/Hard disk). And, you cannot enter bios until you have connected your Hard disk. Alternatively you can try copying the bios file into a Flash Drive(USB) and then try and enter the bios setup by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL or DEL key while it starts up,  if you are still not able to enter the bios then you'll need to buy a new hard disk for this.

Please see if the power supplied to it is supplied from its power adapter and not from any other source as you can match the voltage criteria however you also have to maintain the current rating(like 5 amperes or so). So, please use the orignal battery from itronix to use it in Future.

before upgrading xp plz visit the manufacture website and check for drivers for xp.
xp needs min of 256mb of ram
