Plug the laptop in with the AC adapter before you charge the tablet. When a laptop is on battery power, it may deliver less current to the USB ports. Or, the tablet might have a bad battery.

hey, did you sort this out? If so, how?cause I have the exact same problem...If I manage to be fast enough to press the button to "recover" or "format" before the screen freezes then it just goes into recovery for ages but accomplishes nothing. My computer doesn't recognize my archos so oI can't upload anything or update anything.?????

Your windows is installed on FAT 32 partition, so it is not recognized partitions bigger than 4 Gb. Change to NTFS. ATTENTION ! All informations on your computer will be lost. Do this only after saving your private files !!!
