Dell 670 BIOS not installed

When booting up, the logical drive cannot be found although the SCSI hard drive is installed and later stops booting with "BIOS not installed!" I tried booting with WinXP, but it couldn't detect a hard drive so I had to quit installation. Please help!

If you are installing a new hard drive, it is possible that you have not connected the cables correctly. Check if these are seated firmly in the corresponding pins.

Hi, I just bought this Dell Precision 670,and it shows: "No logical drives found" and then "BIOS not installed!" I am unable to understand what went wrong, or if the BIOS is really damaged. I don't know...

Power on computer and enter the set up (BIOS) menu by tapping the F2 key. Hold down the <Alt> key and depress the <E> then the <F> keys in succession. This will force the motherboard to load default settings and also force the motherboard to redetect all IDE devices. Note: The selection for the floppy drive will be set to ON. If you do not have one then you must disable floppy in set up (BIOS) menu.

Upgrade hard drives on 670

There is a 2TB limit with MBR (Master Boot Record), but even a larger drive can be partitioned. So a single 4TB (biggest on the market) drive will look like several drives.
External drives that are bigger than 4TB are really several physical drives combined by an array.

RAID 1 requires optional SCSI drives, cables, and even software?

Add on SATA 3 cards to PCI are not a good idea if you are looking for speed. They just bottlenecks the throughput.

Can I boot from a SATA drive and access pre-existing SCSI Drives?

You need to install the driver of your scsi controller for win7/64. Then you'll see your datas on win7.

No logical drive drives found dell presicion 670

If the problem would be the logical drives not found it means that your drives are defective. Though it is working but the board on the drives does not. Replace the drives and then start the installation of your operating system.

I have dell 4600 pe serveri want to install Server2003 os i have configured raid 1 on the machine every thing is fine but! on boot process it display message no Boot Device Found Press F1 to continue F2...

The hard drive needs to be set as the first SCSI ID device boot device..
The hard drive needs to have the jumper set to SCSI ID 0, the CD and FDD can be set to SCSI ID 1 and SCSI ID 2. No SCSI devices can have the same SCSI ID number unless it is on a different SCS controller.

Boot from non Dell raid controller

Check the Boot Sequence again -- if there are any "SCSI" devices listed, enable them, and make your CD-ROM the "primary" boot-device (so that you can install Windows) and make this "SCSI" device the SECONDARY boot-device, and disable the internal hard-drive, so that it won't be used as a boot-device.

Dell Precision 670 throws "BIOS not installed!" message

i think this means that the harddrive needs to be refoarmated as the bios sees no logical drive in which the boot.ini file resides

There are many configuration settings, although i personally would hunt down an SCSI hard disk, many will fit from many other models just like IDE ones
