Errors sync with Outlook 2003 and Tungsten T3

I just setup my wifes new T3 and did all of the updates (desktop, and outlook conduit updates) but it still will not sync. I get the following errors in my log: The conduits were unable to attach to Outlook, possibly because the logon was canceled or otherwise failed. Synchronization failed. This solution worked for me I had upgraded my wifes M500 to a T3 and I guess I hadn't fully uninstalled the old software. Once I did this I could sync with Outlook. Before installing the Palm Desktop Software (PDS) for your Tungsten T3, make sure you completely uninstall the Pocket Mirror or the old version of PDS. Delete also the registry file after uninstall. Here’s how: Click on the Start button Go to Run, at the open box, type regedit then OK Registry Editor window will open, click the plus (+) at the left of HKEY_CURRENT_USER Click the (+) at the left of Software Scroll down look for the folder U.S. Robotics, right click on it then choose delete. Then close it, Go to My Computer Choose C:\Program Files Delete the folder that says Palmone or Palm Note: do not delete anything other than U.S. Robotics Folder After completely uninstalling Pocket Mirror, install the new version of PDS.

I did search through the forums before posting and the only "solution" I found was to buy Chapura PocketMirror for $30 which I refuse to do. I should be able to sync this palm with Office without having to spend even more money.

SOURCE: Just bought Zire 31 and won't hot sync Outlook Calendar, Contacts, Notes with the following log:

Generally this error means that HotSync manager (via the 4 Outlook conduits) is having a hard time connecting to your Outlook or, in some cases, specifically to your Oultook profile.

My T5 will not synch my calendar in Outlook

Welcome to Fixya

Double check the Palm or palmOne program in Windows. Click Start then All Programs then Palm or palmOne. You should see an icon in there called Sync with Outlook or something similar. Click that icon and the Outlook conduits will replace those for Palm Desktop. Some conduits, like Media/Photos will continue to sync with Palm Desktop, but Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Memos will sync to Outlook.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Switching to the MS Outlook Conduits using the Palm Installation CD

Search Installation Disk, I had this same issue. The Outlook conduit is on the installation guide, you have to search for it. 1. Insert the installation disk. 2. Open My Computer 3. Right click the drive that contains the disk. 4. Click Search. 5. Enter the conduit name for your device (ex: Pocket Mirror) 6. The search results should contain the executible file that you need to run to sync with Outlook. Hope this helps.

Tungsten E - HotSync with Outlook 2003

Don't skip the initial HotSync for secondary computer! Alright, I figured this one out on my own and figured I'd post what I'd learned so that others don't have to endure the teeth mashing, hair pulling, snarling frustration. (self induced as it may be) My experiences have taught me to not always trust a cookie cutter installation wizard...especially for custom app installations (ie: primary = home, secondary=work, total sync, no priority). So, I did not perform the initial sync during installation of the palm software fearing that the new installation would NOT recognize that the work computer was a secondary machine and resultantly wipe out the old palm data from the primary machine. Turns out, as I saw in many other unrelated posts, that it's difficult (if not impossible) to specify conduit direction to outlook 2003 outside of the initial sync (this prompted me to specifically look for conduit direction during install). So, this wizard is one I should have trusted...by mistake...because of weak program design. By the way...once I specified sync with outlook during the initial sync, EVERYTHING works fine despite not having installed the two "imperative" conduit updates (they were uninstalled after several previous failed attempts at this). Hope this helps

Switch from outlook to palm desktop

Remember to change (HotSync, Custom) settings before you perform your sync or else you will get duplicate records as I did. Good luck. Support Knowledge Library Click here to go back Click here to print Solution ID: 25263 Switching between Outlook and Palm Desktop synchronization Depending on your device, you might be synchronizing with Outlook using the Palm™ Outlook Conduits, or PocketMirror conduits from Chapura (find out which). Both of these types of conduits are installed and activated when you run the CD-ROM that came with your device. What do you want to learn about? * Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits * Switching synchronization: PocketMirror Conduits * Synchronizing partially with Palm Desktop, partially with Outlook * Note about data transfer * Macintosh information * Multiple users on the same desktop computer Switching synchronization: Palm Outlook Conduits These instructions apply to the Palm Outlook Conduits that are included with handhelds released after late 2003. The Palm Desktop installer determines which conduits are activated during the installation process. If you want to switch synchronization from Palm Desktop to Outlook, or vice versa, you'll need the original CD-ROM that came with your handheld. 1. Insert the CD-ROM into your computer. A window should open, containing the contents of the CD-ROM. 2. From the Discover Your Handheld screen, select "Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits" or "Change synchronization method" (depending on which device you have) 3. Follow the instructions for switching synchroniztion from or to Palm Desktop or Outlook. 4. See our note about data transfer Remember: Some applications will continue to synchronize with Palm Desktop. Use Palm Desktop to manage applications such as Photos and VoiceMemo

T3 sync with Outlook works except for Tasks

A hard reset of my T3 and sync with 'Desktop overwrite HH' on all Outlook conduits seemed to have resolved the problem.

T5 synco with Outlook except Tasks

Hard rest resolved problem for me. I just posted yesterday a similar problem with my T3. While everything else was syncing fine, the Tasks from Outlook would not sync. After I posted my question, I (accidently) did a hard reset on my T3. So I set all Outlook conduit settings to 'Desktop overwrite HH' for first hotsync. This somehow corrected the problem with the Tasks, and all outlook tasks appeared on my HH. All sync's seem to be working fine now.

Cannot hoysync with outlook 2003

After installing, reinstalling, deleting, hard resets, hitting head against wall... I tried installing the Pocket Mirror conduit as a last ditch effort. An error message popped up saying it could not find the mapi32.dll file. I looked at another PC, located that file in the windows32 directory, copied it to my PC, and I was able to hotsync with Outlook. To test this, I uninstalled the Pocket Mirror and Palm desktop SW, then deleted the mapi32.dll. Installed the Palm 4.1.4 sw, outlook 101 update, plus the conduit update, had same error messages. Added the mapi32.dll to the windows32 directory - was able to successfully sync with Outlook!

How do I coordinate different user profiles on 2 pcs?

You will have to keep the profiles the same. In Palm Desktop, under Tools/Users, you will need to reset the name on both of the computers to match the name used on the PDA.

When you start syncing to two computers, the Windows conduit will start to complain. Just tell it that you know, and clean up the mess by yourself.

Which is only one of the reasons I don't use Outlook at home. Palm Desktop can remove the errors created by Outlook, but Outlook can't.
