TIming Consew 210

I replaced the hook on my consew and now the timing is off; topstitch fine, bottom is really loose.

  • JOrgeGIrl Aug 28, 2008

I have played with lower and upper tension adjustments but I think it is in the timing of the hook as everything was fine before I changed it

I am not sure about this particular machine but in most machines there will be a nob on the front loose low numbers like 0 1 -2 work well on number 3. If the nob is not on the front check and see if it is on the side.

Loose top stitch when in reverse 206 RB4 Consew

Do you know how to check the timing of your machine? It sounds like a timing problem to me. If you don't know how to check the timing:

take the side plate off, take the needle plate off, take the presser foot off, and put a new needle in the machine. Make sure that the needle is in the lowest position and look at the needle bar for the two timing lines. Locate the top line. Then, turn the handwheel toward you until the top line is where the bottom line was. At this point, the tip of the hook should be directly in the scarf of the needle.

Consew 226 breaking needles

I posted an answer to this a couple days ago. If the hook's hitting the needle you need to move it away from the needle. There's a small screw in the bottom of the machine that holds the hook mechanism in place. You need to loosen the screw and gently tap the assembly away from the needle. The hook should just pick up the looped thread as the needle bar rises. You can go to www.consew.com and download a pdf file showing the parts of the machine, also an owners manual. You have to click on the 224 machine. The manual's the same for 224, 225, 226. Or you can click on the 226R-3 - that's the same, too.
