Gold Star 3850A20500F Dehumidifier. I am trying to figure out how do you open the front where the water collects. We tried all and it does not open.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Refrigerators to Goldstar Dehumidifier.

Just Answer, says it pulls straight out.

Check if it was on the Recall list? Melted plastic would stop it coming out. It was listed as a fire hazard.

Trying to find a manual for it, but your 'model' number seems flawed.

The fan won't Start ,

Denis, the problem could be the result of a couple of basic things.

1, The air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned.

2. The humidity extraction level may be set to high. Lower it to 35%.

On the mechanical side: The fan motor may have failed or the wiring to the fan motor may have come loose. In addition, there is a sensor that controls the fan's operation and that may have gone bad.

With all of the above, I'm betting on one or both of the first 2 things.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have an upright goldstar dehumifer that only worked in year. it will not come on. i have cleaned the filter. it has an automatic shut off if the basket is full. how do i get this to work again

First, be sure that the water collection bucket is installed properly and is making contact with the bucket safety removal switch that is located on the rear wall of the bucket holder. In addition, while you have the bucket out, check the inside of the bucket for a float valve. It may be stuck in the UP position. In which case, it will not turn ON. When reinstalling the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" into the bucket holder from top to bottom. When installed properly, the bottom of the bucket will not tilt down at all and make good contact with the safety removal switch.

In addition, you may want to check the outlet it's plugged into, to be sure there's power to the outlet and ultimately to the dehumidifier.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Bucket always says full but it's not. It runs for a few seconds, light comes on saying it's full then it switches off. It doesn't beep anymore when we turn it on. It is a GoldStar energy star,...

This generally occurs for two reasons.

1. The float valve in the top of the bucket (if yours is so equipped) is stuck in the 'UP' position. Jiggle the arm of the float valve to get it to return to the 'DOWN' position.

2. Reinstall the bucket "squarely" from top to bottom. into the holder. It must make firm contact with the Bucket Safety Removal Switch on the back wall of the bucket holder. The bucket should not tilt down at the bottom, if installed properly.

I hope this helped you to solve the problem and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My Goldstar dehumidifer won't do anything. I'm trying to take the back grill off so I can clean filter, blades and whatever. I've removed every screw on the thing and can't the back to...

tia0418 - I'm sorry you're having such a problem with this. But, taking off the back, won't allow you access to the air intake filter. It's behind the louvers on the front of the unit.

You failed to mention which model Goldstar Dehumidifier you have, but most have the same features. If you remove the bucket and look up in the cavity where the bucket was removed, you should see what looks like a plastic pull handle. That's the handle for the filter frame. Pull that down and the filter and frame will come out. You then can clean the filter, by following the Owner's Manual Instructions.

The clamps that you referred to are just spring type clamps in a "V" shape. Push the top of the "V" together and the back should release from the cabinet. You can "carefully" use a flat bladed screw driver to do this, if necessary.

Hope this helped you further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Goldstar dehumidifier

Hi,

Two possibilities:
1. Continuous running and there is water coming out of the unit to the floor drain; the unit is just doing its job. It is probably just that there is that much humidity in the room;
2. the sensors are faulty or were bypassed during the repair - the sensor would be testing the water coming out, if there is water, the unit continues to work, if none, then it shuts off. Most would also have an overfill float switch, again which could be bypassed, that likewise control whether the unit will continue to run or stop.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
