How do I put a light switch on a extetion cord

You want a light switch on extension cord.
What kind of light switch do you have? You posted under GFCI device which is totally different than ordinary wall switch.
And what type of extension cord?
Add a comment with more information.

If ordinary light switch is installed on 3-wire outdoor extension cord:
Slice open the side of cord and you see 3 wires: black, white and green.
Cut the black wire in half and connect each end to brass screw on light switch.

If ordinary light switch is install on indoor 2-wire extension cord.
Look at plug and notice there is a wide blade and narrow blade.
Narrow blade is hot. You want the wire connected to narrow blade.
Cut that wire in half, but do not cut other wire.
Connect each end of wire to brass screw on light switch

If you want to install line switch onto indoor 2-wire extension cord:
Narrow blade is connected to hot wire.
Cut that wire in half, but do not cut other wire.
Open line switch.
Connect each end of black wire to brass screw. OR if no screws, then place cut wire in open grooves.
Tuck other wire into groove and then reassemble switch.

It rinses, light flashes after water fills, program gets no further. What's wrong?

The drain hose could be crimped or clogged your pump may also be clogged.you may just have use too much detergent causing your drain to over suds. I don't think it a unbalance load since you removed some items but you might try to redistribute your load. Don't use an extetion cord , low voltage can cause this symptom check fuse box or circuit breaker, also unplugging machine for 10 minutes may rest your appliance

How to properly wire the cord at the switch on Oreck XL Pilot Series? Wired it wrong during a cord replacement at the switch. I couldn't remember which prong to put the black wiring on. Switch has 3...

Joanne, when you take the screws out of the handle, and take the handle half off to expose the switch, the black wire from the handle cord goes on the front terminal on the switch that is by itself. The black wire from the power cord will go on the terminal that is facing up as you look down on it. Hope this helps!

Utilitech #73189 installation

Utilitec 73189 is ordinary 120Volt fluorescent light.
Where are you installing this light?
Are you wanting to hardwire this light so it connects directly to a switch?

Does the light have a plug-in cord?
Or do you want instructions how to wire a plug-in cord to the light? And then install small rotary line switch on the cord.

I would buy a cheap extension cord that already has ends. And buy rotary line switch that fits the cord.
Then cut off one end of extension cord so it will plug into outlet.
Install the line switch onto the cord.
Connect the cut-end of extension cord to light fixture, black-to-black white-to-white-green-to-green.

THE SWITCH ON IS NOT WORKING CAN YOU HELP ME TO FIX IT

The Switch ON? Are you talking about the Power Button? If so it could be that your Power Cord is bad. Some models of the Power Cord has a light on it and some laptops light up somewhere when the power cord is plugged in and working.

You might have been working off your battery and if the power cord is bad it was not charging the battery and now nothing will work because the battery is completely drained.

If the power cord is good, you might have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the power cord and the battery, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds put the power cord back in (not the battery, leave it out) and press the power button. If it starts booting you had a Static Charge Buildup and can put the battery back in now.

If all fails, take an ink pen and stick it inside where the power cord goes. If it is not tight then the DC Power Jack is bad and need to be repaired. This will require a complete disassembly of your laptop.

Remove the Power Cord and battery. Press and hold the Power Button for 20 seconds. Now put the power cord back in and Press the Power Button. Did you see any lights or hear any fans running? If not, your power cord is probably bad.

How is float switch testing and troubleshooting ?

I use a float switch to automatically top off the water in my fishtank.  the best method I can suggest for testing the unit is to get an extension cord that you are comfortable with cutting.  Cut one of the 2 wires of the extension cord, and put the float switch in-line on this one cut wire.  Be sure to use wire nuts or something that can cover up the exposed connections where the float switch connects to the extension cord.  Once everything is buttoned up, plug the extension cord into an outlet and plug a small device which does not require much power into the other end of the extension cord, a small nightlight or something would work great.  Now move the float up and down on it's shaft to see if the connection is established to power the device.  This is essentially the same configuration that I use for my fish tank topoff and the deivce at the end of the extension cord is a pump which sits in a rubbermaid full of water.  Works great!!  Hope this helps.

Joe
