Philips GOGEAR SA6045 MP3 Player Logo
Posted on Feb 17, 2018

I'm using a Philips GoGear Mix 4GB (SA3MXX04K/02) and some of the mp3s I've transferred to the player won't play - I get a "File format not supported" error. None of the tracks are protected by DRM and I've tried repairing the player several times with no result.

SOURCE: Philips Gogear 1GB - File format not supported

There are a few different possibilities.

1)Your subscription to your digital music service such as Napster, etc has expired. Sorry - unless you renew your subscription, you will not be able to play these songs again.
2) Your songs have DRM-encryption on them. To check and see, right click on an individual song name in Windows Media Player, and click on "License" or "Digital Rights"; if the affected songs have DRM encryption, then get DRM-removal software.
3) Your songs do NOT have DRM-encryption on them. In this instance, follow the procedure for item#2, except click on the link in the License or digital Rights tab that says "acquire license" (make sure you are connected to the internet first).

I download mp4 files to my GoGear but it says "does not support the file format". How to fix the problem?

Your device can play video file if its format is suitable. If you install the Philips songbird software you can convert your files with it and the player will play them after files transferred.

The software is download-able from here:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?tmplt=ePlatform%20-%20Philips&scy=US&slg=AEN&sct=FLASH_AUDIO_PLAYER_SU&cat=MP3_MEDIA_PLAYERS_CA&session=20110221100645_93.189.114.198&grp=SOUND_AND_VISION_GR&ctn=SA2VBE04K/17&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

This solution can be usable if your player's type is SA2VBE.... If you have SA1... type you should use Philips Device Manager you can download too from this website.
Windows Media Player 11 and Quick Time software should be installed on your PC.
Good luck!
Thanks.

The ripped cd's won't play on the GoGear Cam 4gb (SA2CAM04K/02) device, even though it was ripped with SongBird, help me, 'cause it's my neighbours device...

Hi beunckens an,

Be sure to restart your computer immediately after Philips Songbird installation in order for the CD Ripping feature to perform optimally.

Once you Rip files to Philips Songbird, you then have to transfer those songs to the device (it's a two-step process).

I hope this helps - you can also feel free to reach me with specific questions (for example, are you not able to successfully rip the cd's into Songbird or is the problem with transferring from the library to the device, or are the files not playing but still showing up on the device?).

Or, you can also reach Consumer Care at 1-888-744-5477 - an agent will be able to troubleshoot and provide assistance.

If you haven't already done so, be sure to check out www.philips.com/support - enter your model number (located on your product) to access FAQ's, manuals, videos, etc.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatiblevideo file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format thatyour MP3 player uses. I have a GoGear MP3 Player. I've loaded a 70 MB wave file onto it, which is a newly recorded song. When it plays on the GoGear, it has what sounds like skips in it, or static "sparks." They...

This most likely has to do with your GoGear not being fast enough to play the song. The GoGear is probably set up to buffer a certain amount of music (roughly the length of a normal song) but since you are loading a wave file, it is having to buffer multiple times in the middle of your song. Try converting your wave file to something like an mp3 or aac file (if you have itunes you can right click on it in and say convert to mp3) and this should eliminate your problem. Don't forget, your computer is much more capable than your MP3 so it isn't surprising that such a large file is giving it trouble.

I have a Philips GoGear Vibe (4GB)the model is SA2VBE04K/02 i also convert videos to my gogear bt when i click on the video it shows "File format not supported" i also dont have Media Converter...

If your player cannot play a video then itis an incompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video fileto a format that your MP3 player uses. There are commercial and freeware videoconverters on the Internet. Use Google to search for Video converters. I foundthese converters useful, Kate's Video converter, Any Video converter and CIVideo Converter. I suggest you try some freeware typesfirst and convert a video file, then test this converted video file on your MP3player. To copy/download your video files to yourMP3 player, connect the USB cable from the MP3 player to the USB port on thecomputer. Open the video folder on the MP3 player and copy and paste the videofile/s from the computer to the video folder on the MP3 player.
