More than likely you have an internal fault either in the fan itself or the thermostat that activates it.

For a fuse to blow it has to have a lot higher than normal current draw through it, which is normally refered to as a short. If the fuse blows almost immediately then I would suggest you unplug the fan, and see if the fuse blows with just the thermostat in the circuit. If it blows - replace the thermostat control. If it doesn't blow, plug in the fan and watch it. If it trys to start and then blows the fuse, replace the fan motor.

Over heating when stop and go

Possibly your electric fan (attached to the radiator) is not coming on. If it is not coming on when the car reaches 190 degrees, the fan, relay or wiring could be bad.

Radiator fan on my 2001 pt cruiser only engages when the air conditioner is on. When the heat is on the fan doesn't work causing the car to overheat. Do I need a new fan?

probably not . There are fuses to check and a relay to check as well as the coolant temperature sensor to check . If the engine overheats when you have the heater on it suggests an air lock in the cooling system . Have the system pressure bled along with all the other checks.

OVER HEATS FAN DOES NOT TURN ON

Check the fan motor with direct power and then start checking relays if it works.

2001 pt cruiser over heating wired fan direct fan works but car still over heats replaced thermostat temp. sensor fuses etc...

Sounds like the engine head gasket needs to be replaced. The gasket has deteriated from the engine cylinder and coolant passage and overheating the coolant. Sometimes you will see coolant mixed with engine oil, or milky solution on the oil dipstick

2001 pt cruiser my fan motor keeps going out we changed the fuse

Check wiring harnes to fan, using multi meter you should get 12V ot the fan connector with out the air con running and at operating temp, if ac is turned on does the fan run? if so then you need to replace the fan unit .. Easy job about 1.5 hours do it your self . Bear in mind that I am an aircraft mechanic. question let me know I will do my best to help you. [email protected]

Engine fan will not kick on when it should on my 2001 e320 , fues all look ok what could it be?

either the fan is burned up or, you have a heat sensor that sends a signal to the fan motor not working.

2002 pt cruiser overheating was told i need a new raditor and thermostat for 1 grand sounds fishy

Flush rad & change coolant & thermostat. Check operation of rad fan, & make sure it is coming on when engine reaches normal operating temperature. Be sure to bleed air out good when refilling rad/cooling system. Start engine & turn heater on when refilling & let rad fan come on & off at least 2 or 3 times before putting cap back on rad, and refill rad as needed as you do this. then fill return bottle to proper level & see what happens.

2001 pt cruiser no heat

did you check the fluid level by removing the rad. cap? Radiator should be full to top. If Chryslers are low on coolant, the heater will not blow warm air.
