Oil leak! I am getting oil on the spark plug wire leads right at the spark plug. When I ride it leaks eniugh to drip when stopped from the oill that has sparyed back out of these two locations. Left front spark plug and rear right side plug. What oil can come from the spark plug area? Do not see any ovious leaks, cracks or damage and the bike does not run rough or miss fire just oil on the spark plug leads at the plugs!

Pull the spark plug tubes out and inspect.you probably have cam chains that are loose.if this is the case see gadgets fix-it page for info for getting extenders for tensioners.

hope this helps,mike

How do oil get on the out side of the spark plugs?

I am assuming this is when the spark plugs are still in place and the oil isn't from a spill when someone has missed the hole filling the oil.
If it is a leak the most obvious place the oil is leaking from will be the rocker cover gasket. Make sure you clean the plug and it's mounting hole before removing it to reduce any oil getting into the cylinder.
Take a good look at the top of the engine, there is a bolt on, full length cover right on top of the engine. A lot of engines have the oil filler cap mounted into it. There should a be a seal between this and the top of the cylinder head.
Changing this gasket is fairly easy and won't affect anything important like mechanical timing. If you can, clean the engine as best you can with a degreaser as this will help hunt the leak if it isn't the gasket.
*Note* When you remove the old gasket make sure both the surfaces that squeeze together are completely clean before refitting the new one. Also make sure the gasket is lined up correctly to avoid leaks. A TINY amount of gasket sealant can be used to hold the gasket in place when fitting the cover.
The cover bolts are NOT in too tight. You should wind them until you hit resistance then turn it a small amount more, Then Stop.

I have a 1999 Sebring 2.5L and started the process of changing my spark plugs. As I removed the front plug wires, they all had oil dripping off of the plug wire and as I looked in the hole the wire came...

I am not a car mechanic by career, but I have built high performance engines for racing. There should be no oil leak. If you get oil on to electrical wires this is bad, because the oil can soften and damage the insulation characteristics of electrical wire, other types of surfaces, and many types of hoses. Find and correct any oil leaks, replace the wires, and make sure all other wires and hoses are clean from any oil residue or drippings.

There is oil all over 2 of the spark plugs and 1 of the plugs wires will not stay on. What do i need to do?

The valve cover gaskets needs to be change to stop the oil from dripping down on the plugs. A new plug wire or clean it with a solvent.. Good Luck!!!

Oil around spark plugs on 1992 honda accord

Yes the oil can cause the car to lose spark, the oil leak could be caused by the valve cover gaskets around the spark openings, but 9 times out of 10 it is the spark plug tube "O" rings. The top of the valve train comes off of the head, the "O" rings are between the two halves, that will fix the oil leak.

Oil in the spark plug tubes. engine misses when at an idle.

You probably have a leaking valve cover gasket causing the leaking oil to collect in the spark plug tubes.
The miss fire is probably caused by the HT in the plug lead shorting through the oil and causing a weak spark.
Clean all the oil out and track down the leak.
