Can You Use Nintendo DS With Wii?

The portable Nintendo systems, Nintendo DS, DS Lite, and DSi, are connectible with the Nintendo Wii system, much like the compatibility between Nintendo's Gameboy Advance and Gamecube video game systems.

  1. Purpose
    • Connecting the Nintendo DS, DS Lite, or DSi to the Nintendo Wii allows owners of these systems to use them to their maximum potential, as they take advantage of the Nintendo Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows you to use the systems simultaneously with certain Nintendo DS games.
    Connecting
    • To connect the Nintendo DS, DS Lite or DSi to the Nintendo Wii, the Wii needs to be connected to the Internet wirelessly either through a router or by the Wii LAN adapter. These Nintendo systems share a Wi-Fi connection, and this allows the portable Nintendo systems to connect instantly to the Wii via the wireless signal shared by the Wii and the Internet.
    Function
    • Once you have your portable Nintendo system and Nintendo Wii connected, the DS will act as a controller and allow you to play the DS game through the Wii system while maintaining the touchscreen and microphone capabilities of the portable system. Another function of the connection is that the Wii is able to expand the portable Nintendo system's games.
    Games
    • There are only a handful of portable Nintendo games that allow you to connect to the Wii, including the Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games, which allow players to use Pokemon accumulated via these DS titles to battle with in the Wii's Pokemon Battle Revolution game.
    Future
    • Nintendo has commented that there are plans of being able to download and play game demos to the portable Nintendo systems through the Wii's Nintendo Channel.

How do you play games online?

unless you connect them to the Wii, the dsi only plays games via dsi connect which requires other DSi to be in the same location and setup to play that way

Power on your console and press the A Button on the Wii Remote to reach the Wii main menu. Use the Wii Remote to select the "Wii" button. Click on "Wireless Connection" and then "Search for an Access Point (Are you using a wired Internet connection to your Wii console? If so, click here for specific help.) Select "OK" and the Wii will display all the wireless networks it finds. (If you're not sure which is yours, or you don't see any wireless networks, click here. Select "OK," "Save Settings," and then "Yes." The Wii console will run a connection test with your wireless network when the test is completed. You should see the following screen: As long as you see "The connection test was successful," the "Wii Support Code" does not matter and can be ignored The connection test was successful - Then you're almost done! After your connection test, the Wii console will check if there is a new Wii System Update available. Once you select "Yes" and "I Accept," the Wii will begin to download any available updates. How do i get internet on dsi

Well, i read on the GAME site, that you have to download it. I dunno where from though.

I just read on a site that 'you'll figure this out as soon as you first power up the system. Click on the DSi Shop icon from the main menu, and you're immediately prompted to run a firmware update.

The process for doing firmware updates is pretty much the same as it is on the Wii. For the non-Wii owners out there, that means pretty much hands-off, although a bit on the slow side. '
