Hi there,

As far as I can recall, some earlier Land Rover vehicles relied on reading LED flashes (or LCD display) from the vehicle's ECU computer itself, so try the following:

Locate the engine ECU (possibly hidden under the one of the front seats - remove carpet or cover; or behind the left hand kick panel). Once you have located the ECU and it has LED's or a display, do the following procedure:

1) Run engine up to operating temperature
2) Place gears in PARK or Neutral and turn ignition OFF & wait 3 seconds.
3) Turn ignition to position "II" (do not start) - Fault code will display
Note: repeat steps 2 & 3 to obtain any additional codes

4) If no codes display, then disconnect the White 5-pin connector plug (located behind r/hand underside of dash)
5) Repeat steps 2 (wait 3 seconds) & 3 again to see if codes display.

Feel free to post your codes here and someone will be happy to advise you further.

Cheers,

I have a 1992 Range Rover County and yesterday my Brakes stopped working while I was driving. The brakes are very stiff and I had to use the e-brake to get home. Any ideas as to this problem?

you may have a bad power brake booster.
this device help you to apply the brake with little effort.
if it goes bad then you have no help in pushing on the pedal

Transmission problem

Sound like, either the universal couplings (they need to be lubricated every once in a while or they seize) or maybe the bearings.
