I'm using a ge universal remote and cnnot get the sylania model 6513 DF to work

What model number of the remote do you have? I also have a GE universal remote and I have used it on over 30 tv's and every single 1 worked. Do you do the autoscan or put them in manually?

You might have to try several different codes on your universal remote till you find one that also works the volume. Try all the codes for that model.

If it's a GE universal remote and it doesn't have the brand name iview in the manual with the code then you can't use the universal remote with it. I also have a GE universal remote and no matter which model of GE remote you get they have the same codes. I have never heard of iview so I doubt it will work. You can try and see if there are any original remotes for the iview on ebay though.

There is no setup codes for this device to any model GE remotes.

You may also confirm if your remote control is working fine by aiming directly the infrared emitter (sensor) to your cellphone camera, while pressing any button key on the remote control, you will be able to see the flash of the infrared coming from the sensor. You can purchase a universal remote that works with all sets at any Walmart, Target, Sears, Best Buy, Big Lots, Radio Shak ect. They come with instructions on how to program the remote to work with your model television set. Universal remotes also control DVD players, VCR's, Cable TV ect.
