Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.

  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

I have a LC320SS9 Sylvania that has stopped working and the indicator light is not on or flashing. I have replaced the components in the repair kit and still not working....HELP!

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

No light on frnt of tv and does not p0wer up 32" flat tv?

You probably have a bad power supply module inside. You didn't supply a model number? If you do a search on youtube.com you may find a video detailing your problem and a possible fix. A power supply kit consisting of a fuse, pulse width modulator Field Effect driver Transistor, plus several diodes, and a resistor or two WILL generally fix your problem. Just did this for a friends 32" and it works again.

Tv went dead while viewing, will not power back up

You have a short somewhere in the load for the power supply. Probably the horizontal output transistor and the flyback transformer. You need to have it checked out by a tech. You may want to get an estimate. Stargazer
