One simple way to accomplish this is to run RCA audio cables from the red and white (left and right) AUDIO OUT jacks on the back of your TV, and plug those into the red and white (left and right) AUX INPUT connectors on the back of your stereo.
Then just select AUX on the input mode selector of your stereo and you will hear the TV audio through the stereo speakers.
Make sure your TV volume is turned up about halfway way and then adjust the volume on the stereo to your liking.
In the AUDIO OPTIONS of your TV menu you can usually select whether you want the TV speaker to be OFF or ON. That way you can just control the stereo volume with your stereo remote to hear the TV audio.
Or you can select VARIABLE OUTPUT LEVEL for the rear audio output connectors on the TV, and then you can control the volume with the TV remote and just leave the stereo volume set at one volume all the time.
There are many other ways to hook up sound through your stereo, that is just one cheap and simple one.
