Hello, I have an Amana fridge (on top, freezer below) the fridge (top) had stopped working the freezer seemed to still work, unplugged it for a couple of days cleaned all dust underneath. Plugged it back in worked for 2 more weeks, same problem. Is this the condenser or could this be a thermostat issue or time for a new Refrigerator? Thanks

I believe this unit has one evaperator for the fridge and another for the freezer but still uses one compressor. There is a valve that switches coolant from one to the other. Either the switch is bad or the evaporator for the fridge is plugged up with shavings from a bad compressor. If it is plugged the freezer will eventually stop working because the evaporator for it will get plugged up as well. Either way I would get it checked out by a repair person and let them run their tests to see what it could be. Good luck, fridges are expensive these days. I usually don't believe in extended warranties but I do recommend purchasing extended warranties on refrigerators because of the failure rate.

If this appliance is new, I would suggest to contact the vendor or manufacturer and ask them for in home service.
It could be the thermostat that might be not working properly or not set properly.
Check the user manual for more info on the thermostat settings.

SOURCE: Condensation on refrigerator front btwn top freezer and refrigerator doors

I have the same problem with my frig in the basement. I get condensation and resulting mold on the top outer surface and related areas. This is from the surface being cold, with resulting outside moist air condensing on the cold surface. Best solution - spray/wipe the surface with a bleach and water solution, let it soak a few minutes, then wipe off with a rag. Add a drop of dishwasher soap to a mixture of roughly 4 parts water to one part bleach. Repeat if necessary. Do this as often as the problem seems to creep up again. Good luck!

Check the damper in the top back of the fresh food section. make sure that it is open and air is coming through it.

Its defrost problem, the freezer should cool, then freeze, then defrost cycle should start. In your case freezer is cooling, then freezing, but its not defrosting. That's why fridge section is not cooling.-------

Amana refrigerator A4TXNWFWWO1 >top freezer, bottom fridge it's only 10 months old refrigerator won't get colder than 55 degrees freezer is working

There is something plugging the drain line in the freezer which carries water from the defrost cycle to your evap drain tray in the bottom of your fridge. The water has built up and froze plugging the flow of air from freezer to fridge.... find the line and unplug it and let fridge sit and thaw overnight and then some more.

Amana #srd2555w bought from a friend in working condition. 3 yrs old brought home on its side. vacumed coils working 3 days then stopped cooling in fridge followed by ice build up and not working in...

You have a defrost problem. 3 parts: Timer (or "adaptive defrost control"), defrost heater and def. termination thermostat.Find the timer, it shoud be nehind the bottom front grille to the right on Amana (if you see a blck box under there with a sticker on it, it's the ADC model) turn the timer CW until it clicks. Take the back off the bottom of the freezer and listen. After 5-10 minutes if you hear the sound of the sound of water hitting a hot grill. If you hear this the heater and thermo are working and the problem is the timer/ADC. No hiss? Unplug fridge. Check thermo and heater for continuity. Replace the one that's open. If the heater's open, replace the thermo too: Maybe it didn't open soon emouhg and caused heater failure.

Refrigerator will not get cold, but freezer works

Make sure your fan is working ,its located behind the freezers back wall. If it is working the vent from the freezer down to the refrigerator may be blocked (usually with ice). With out a fan you have no circulation but your freezer may look likes its working,it may last 3 days. Also if you can move everything out unplug it turn it off w/ doors open untill all traces of ice are gone this will free up any clogged tubes. Good luck.

Refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.
