Re: Motorola V176 cell phone problem. I recently tried to add a new name and number(New Entry) to my "Phonebook" and it will not go back to the "Phonebook". Now when I turn the phone on and go to the "Phonebook" it goes to the New Entry and not to my "Phonebook". What do I need to do? Thanks, Bill

Sounds like the new entry is incomplete and the phone is waiting for you. Have you pressed "save" on completion ?

Clarity D613 Cordless Telephone
SPEED DIAL INSTRUCTIONS

To set, replace, or delete one of the nine Speed Dial numbers:

1. If you want to set or replace one of the Speed Dial numbers, and the new number is not already an entry in the phonebook, add the new phonebook entry before continuing here.

2. Press the PHONEBOOK button. The first entry in the phonebook displays.
3. Press the MENU button. The first two items (VIEW and ADD) of the seven-item PHONEBOOK menu display.

4. Press the UP/DOWN buttons (right side of the handset) to scroll to SPEED DIAL.
5. Press the MENU button. The first two items (KEY 1 and KEY 2) of the nine-item SPEED DIAL menu display.

6. The SPEED DIAL menu is displayed. If you do not want to make any (more) Speed Dial changes, press the BACK button until the HANDSET number displays, and stop following these instructions.

7. Press the UP/DOWN buttons to scroll to the KEY number that you want to set, replace, or delete; for example, KEY 4.
8. Press the MENU button. A phonebook entry appears. It is either the entry, if any, that is currently associated with the selected key or it is the first entry in the phonebook.

9. Press the UP/DOWN buttons to try to scroll to a different entry in the phonebook.
10. If you are able to scroll through the phonebook, the selected key is not currently associated with any phonebook entry and you have two options:
a. To leave the selected key without an association, press the BACK button and return to step 6.
b. To associate the selected key with a phonebook entry, go to step 16.

11. The displayed phonebook entry is currently associated with the selected key. If you want to leave it that way, press the BACK button and return to step 6.
12. Press the MENU button. A menu displays with two items (ADD and DELETE). By default, the ADD item is initially selected.
13. If you want to associate a different phonebook entry with the selected key, press the MENU button (to choose ADD). The first entry in the phonebook displays. Go to step 16.

To call one of the nine Speed Dial numbers:

1. Press and hold the desired Speed Dial key (1 through 9 on the dial pad). The selected key number displays. If the key is associated with a phonebook entry, the call begins within a few seconds. Otherwise the phone beeps twice.
2. Release the key. If the key was not associated with a phonebook entry, you can either press the BACK key to return the phone to standby, or you can press the CLEAR key and then press a different Speed Dial key..

Forgot how to add new phone numbers and names to my phone

Creating Phonebook Entries To store names and numbers in your Phonebook, please follow these steps: When the phone is in standby mode, press [phonebook icon] (on the left side of the four-way key). To create a new phonebook entry, press the NEW soft key. Edit Name appears. Enter the name for this entry (Edit Name). Use the keypad to enter a name for this entry; the name can contain up to 1 6 characters. (See page 1 1 for instructions on entering text.) If you do not want to enter a name for this entry, your phone will store this entry as No Name. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. Enter the number for this entry (Edit Number 1). Once you have stored a name, EDIT NUMBER1 appears next. Use the number keypad, [right] or [left] on the four-way function key, or the DELETE soft key to enter the phone number 1 ; the phone number can contain up to 32 digits. If you need the phone to pause between digits when it’s dialing (for example, to enter an extension or an access code), press [redial/pause] to insert a two-second pause. You will see a P in the display. You can also use more than one pause together if two seconds is not long enough. Each pause counts as one digit. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. EDIT NUMBER 2 appears next. Use the same procedure when entering the phone number 1 to enter the phone number 2. Press the OK soft key when you are finished. Assign a personal ring tone for this entry (Personal Ring). You can attach a personalized ring tone to each phonebook entry; the phone will use this ring tone when this person calls. Move the cursor to highlight one of the 20 different ring tone options. As you highlight each ring tone, you will hear a sample of that tone. When you hear the ring tone you want to use, press the OK soft key. If you do not want to use a personal ring tone for this phonebook entry, select the NO SELECTION option, and the phone will use your standard ring tone setting. Assign this entry to a Speed Dial number (Speed Dial). Your phone has 1 0 speed dial numbers, 0 to 9. Move the cursor to select the speed dial number you want to assign to this phonebook entry, and press the OK soft key. Select NO SELECTION if you do not want to assign this entry to a speed dial number. Press the OK soft key. You will hear a tone confirming that the new phonebook entry has been stored, and DONE! appears in the display. Note: When the shared memory is full, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.

WHEN NAME AND NUMBER ARE STORED ON THE PHONE, WHEN YOU CALL SOME ONE YOU SEE THE NAME SHOWING, BUT WHEN THEY CALL, YOU ONLY SEE THE NUMBER OF THE PERSON AND NOT THE NAME LISTED IN THE PHONE. IF YOU SET THE...

This usually happens when you have duplicate entries in your phonebook.

Depending on the model of you phone, You can have only the phonebook or sim enabled but not both to avoid duplicate entries. Or it might be that there is really 2 or more Names for the certain number. Just review your phonebook and remove the duplicates. That should solve your problem.

Hope that helps.

If you tell you phone company, they would most likely replace your phone for free if you tell them that its defective. T-mobile does it for sure. Hope I helped. =)
