It's spitting ice crystals when turned on, and is very noisy.

@ days ago storm blew out power. Including Air Conditioner (Haeir), which was on at the time. Today Front of A/C was frozen, so I turned it off and cleaned the filter. The front ( after removing grill) was frozen. It has thawed out but now unit is spitting ice crystals and water and is very noisy, so I turned it off till I got advice. Help, I'm in a wheelchair and need my air conditioner.

I'm in a similar situation with a physical neccessity for a/c, year round, even though I live in temperate New Jersey. My husband is an A/C / Refrigeration tech & here's some things you can try to fix your Haier A/C.
1.) Make sure you keep the area where the filter is clean, if you aren't using a filter, you are clogging the air flow much quicker, which can lead to freeze ups.
2.) Due to how shoddy things are made now-a-days & with the storm coming through, you may have a conked out compressor or may have a small refrigeration leak, which can also cause freeze ups.
3.) Make darned sure that the unit is level, if you find it is not, leave your unit off for at least 24 hours for the refrigeration gas & oil in the system to level off.
Sadly, I do not know the model or type of Haier A/C you have & as I'd mentioned, things are no longer made to last like they once were & to get 3 years from a newer model is likely to be the best you can hope for. Haier is fairly decent with wanting to keep up customer morale & if it's a newer unit (younger than 18 months), they may help you to repair it for free or low cost. Good luck with that!

tip

If your Haeir window A/C unit is spitting water

I got this tip from this site yesterday when my Haeir A/C window unit began spitting water. Look for either a hole on the bottom edge of unit or a horizontal **** on bottom of unit it will either be in the front or back, take a toothpick or if your A/C is in a window unit and your target is on outside, take a long broom, bristle end up and brush out between window ledge and unit, any dirt that may have collected there. This will unclog the hole(s). You should also try to drain any water collected, out of unit. Turn A/C back on, it may do the same thing for about 15 minutes, but the problem should go away. Remember, you may not be actually able to see the hole or ****, but IT IS THERE. Make sure you brush it as thoroughly as you can. It worked for me. Thanks FixYa!!!

Haier 5500 window unit, spits water into the room sometimes. Also, water "sloshes" around inside the fan area & is quite noisy sometimes. ? Thankyou for your assistance...

You will need to reposition the unit to where it will be tilted downwards slightly outside.
The water will then flow out the back and not spit into the room.

We got our unit about a week ago brand new ... It has been building up ice inside and spitting out water!

Have you checked to see if drains are at back, and unit requires a slight tilt down and out the window?
Most do.

Noisy Amana Quiet Zone air conditioner

The compressor sounds like the springs inside are bad. You can live with this are get the compresor eplaced if it is over five years old buy a new unit. Compressor will cost more than a new unit. Russ

Troubleshooting

first I would check your air conditioner to see if it is tilted backwards it should drain to the back (outside) . also check to see if the evaporator tray is clear of debris. if it is pluged up water may back up.. let me know and if this don't help we can go deeper..Thanks
