Haier HPAC99ER Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
I have HAIER HPAC 99ER Portable air conditioner
Make sure your filter & the coils (area under the filter) are clean or that the evaporated water is not overfilled by draining it manually by pulling the plug on the lower rear of the unit (into a bucket of course.) I'm hoping you had gotten an answer sooner...
1 month old Haier 12000BTU Portable Unit LEAKS like mad!
If it has an evaporation pan to "Cook Off" the moisture, it would be putting it back into the air, where it just removed it from. This will, in time cool the room but the humidity is being returned. It is possible however, that drain from the condensor to the collector is clogged, causing it to overflow. If you still have it, install the window exhaust kit that came with the unit. This will help eliminate the humidity from the room and the moisture from the unit.
As for the mols problem, Use a sprayer of choice, depending on how much area you need to spray. Mix unscented CHLORINE bleach with water, 1/2 cup bleach to 1qt water. Spray until surface is wet but it doesn't have to run down the walls, unless you need to treat them too. The chlorine bleach will kill any mold & fungus spores that it contacts. Unscented is a lot easier to live with. The regular smells like a swimming pool for a few days.
LEAKING WATER EVEN AFTER DRAINING THROUGH THE BACK
Being that I am the owner of a Haier 12000 BTU portable A/C unit with the same flipping problem & having a husband that works as a refrigeration tech with plenty of experience with A/C units of all types, we have come to the conclusion that the evaporation pans they put into these portable units are either too small or faulty! The best advice I can offer you if you are out of warranty is to raise the unit onto a sturdy & level base (you can use wood planks if nothing else can be found) & attach a hose to the plug (open of course) & run the hose into a bucket. Sadly, I was unaware of how bad our situation was until my husband told me that it is "raining" in our dining room! We'll now have to rip up carpeting (only 5 years old), rip up the old vinyl flooring to check the sub floor & if that's too bad off, we'll have to replace it, then cut out the sheetrock of the ceiling, treat for black mold before it happens (because it will, wet wood & sheetrock make a lovely sort of place for it to grow exponentially!) then rebuild the ceiling! I hope you got help before my answer & good luck!
It's spitting ice crystals when turned on, and is very noisy.
I'm in a similar situation with a physical neccessity for a/c, year round, even though I live in temperate New Jersey. My husband is an A/C / Refrigeration tech & here's some things you can try to fix your Haier A/C.
1.) Make sure you keep the area where the filter is clean, if you aren't using a filter, you are clogging the air flow much quicker, which can lead to freeze ups.
2.) Due to how shoddy things are made now-a-days & with the storm coming through, you may have a conked out compressor or may have a small refrigeration leak, which can also cause freeze ups.
3.) Make darned sure that the unit is level, if you find it is not, leave your unit off for at least 24 hours for the refrigeration gas & oil in the system to level off.
Sadly, I do not know the model or type of Haier A/C you have & as I'd mentioned, things are no longer made to last like they once were & to get 3 years from a newer model is likely to be the best you can hope for. Haier is fairly decent with wanting to keep up customer morale & if it's a newer unit (younger than 18 months), they may help you to repair it for free or low cost. Good luck with that!
Room temperature reads 95-99 degrees F, not cooling the room
one hose is the heated condensing air and one hose is the intake air. if this unit is not working correctly and u just purchased it take it back. if the landlord will replace it tell them. do not call a service tech to check this unit out if u know 4 sure the temp is set right and it continues to blow hot and the exhaust hose blows outside and the unit is set to cool you are money ahead to replace it. hopefully a landlord or recent purchase can bail you, you can find these units at home depot lowes and get them 4 about 400 dollars. hopefully it's covered somehow by warranty or landlord but the cost for checkout and service will exceed the cost for replacement. have you tried to unplug the unit leave it unplugged and try again. have u cleaned the filter. have you noticed ice anywhere. maybe a light that tells you the drain is plugged i don't wan't to get you're hopes down when you are burning up but check these things and let me know if u see any abnormalities. do you leave the unit running in hopes that you will come home and it works? check for ice is there air blowing constantly? if u dont get air flow you could have a fan thats out or its iced up. let me know.
Haier HPRD12xc5 triangle with ! light is on and it keeps shutting off
I think this a fault with the cooling compressor.
When it cuts out aggain, turn off and unplug. See if the compressor is hot to the touch. If it is, I think it's tripping the overload protector. This is usually due to a faulty capacitor.
If you are unable to check the unit, take it to a service centre, or call an engineer to check and replace the defective components.
Hope this enables you to resolve the problem. If it does, please rate this as Fixya, or contact me again for further help.
Would you like the number of a local engineer? If so please supply your Zip code and I will contact one for you.
