Sounds like the virus remains. Download this free malware scanner HERE and run a full scan. Download/install/update/scan (select full scan). If it finds some nasties let it clean them off and run a full scan in safe mode again. (press F8 as your computer boots up).

Even after virus removal there can be residual damage in the registry. If you still have problems after the scan reply to my thread here and describe in detail your issues. I will watch for a reply from you and try to help you through it.

Had a virus got rid off it but now screen is white and cannot do anything with it

A white blank screen? That sounds like the virus changed your display settings. Click Ctrl+Alt+Del to get to the task manager. Press and hold the Ctrl key plus the Alt Key then hit the Del key. When the task manager opens up Click File at the upper left corner of the window then select New Task RUN. When the create New Task Window opens type: explorer.exe and hit OK. See if it starts populating your desktop icons and shows the start menu and task bar. If so, the virus changed your settings.

To change your display background click Start/Control Panel and look for Display or Appearance and Personalization. When it opens select the Desktop tab and change the desktop background. Hopefully the white will go away.

You may have to get into Safe Mode to do the above if the virus disabled the Task Manager.

Virus Troubles

1, get Real Anti Virus Protection. Norton or McAfee. 2 all is not lost. McAfee offer several solution in what they call Stinger. Norton will scan the computer before it tries to install and will remove your problem files as will McAfee. This is basically a bogus add someone clicked on that allowed it to install and until you get it gone it's going to keep popping those false adds up trying to get you back to the hack site that gave them to you to begin with. Download Stinger from McAfee for free and run it from a floppy or USB drive or Buy Norton and do the install. In fact, you could get the free trial and install that of either of these and they will clean your problem.

Internet Explorer wont connect to the internet

Try putting in https://www.microsoft.com

Or www.filehippo.com where you can download a copy of the latest IE to re-install it is case you have a corupted file in the old installation

Finally were you using Zone Labs as a Firewall if so then you may still have their True Vector Monitor running in the background , you need to go into "Search" put in True Vector and delete any files it finds with that name)

Ps

You really wasted your money on Norton , it slows the machine down big style and is a pain

NOD32 Anti Virus is a much better product and a combination of a router with its built in Firewall and the standard Windows Firewall give you as much protection

Doning Recoveries for Virus/Spyware problems

If your computer is getting slower even through a recovery, you should try making sure that all the cooling fans are clean. Just take a can of compressed air and give it a blast into all the air vents in your laptop. Make sure you do this with the battery out and the power off, just in case a little condensation gets inside the laptop.
Norton should be able to prevent viruses, but browsing habbits mean a lot when it comes to viruses. Avoid downloading files through peer to peer software. Many websites will install spyware onto your computer, and many software downloads try to bundle programs that run in the background on your computer. MSN messenger, for example will by default try to install the MSN toolbar, and other small bits of software that can add up to really slow down the machine.
If you're using windows Vista, it's good to have at LEAST 1GB of RAM, and even then Vista can demand much more, causing you to fall into paging file usage, which really slows a computer down.
If you're using Windows XP, make sure that you are completely up to date, as many exploits have been discovered, and patched with automatic updates.

Hope this helps.

Cant access files

I wouldn't try to install Norton on a machine I suspected had a virus (or at all really). There is a Norton removal tool on the Symantec website that might be useful, but you still need to get rid of the Trojan. There are a lot of free online virus scanners that should do the job. If you can go online in safe mode that would be best, or you could disable everything on startup using MSConfig.
