All the burners are turned off on my gas stove, but one keeps sparking uncontrollably...its been all night now. I have lifted burner cap off and can see the spark but have no idea how to stop it. Our automatic spark button has been broken for months - so we usually use a lighter to to light the stove anyway!

Sparking sound persists after burner is turned off:
Remove knob by pulling it straight off the stem and check the bottom of the knob for any buildup of soil.
Electrodes:
After cleaning, with a dry paper towel or scrub pad, make sure the notch in the burner head is positioned toward the electrode.
Look underneath the stove top and you should see the electrical wire running into an outlet or through a hole in the cupboard to the outlet.
If the above does not stop the sparking I believe I have found the part you may need to replace.
