Where do i find the ssid on the wii

You have set up your Wii and are anxious to begin playing games.
But when testing your Wi-Fi connection to your Wii, you are receiving errors.
The error is "Your wireless network is not within range or incompatible to the Wii" What should you do?
One of your first steps is to check your SSID. An SSID, or service set identifier, is a 32-character code that specifies the access point of your wireless network.
The SSID also acts as the name of your wireless network.
This ID is defined on your network's router software.
The SSID for your Wi-Fi network and the Wii settings must be in sync for the Wii to function properly.

Go to your computer and log in to your Internet router settings.
Find the wireless settings information for your router.

Locate the SSID field. This field displays the name of your wireless network.
Carefully write the SSID on a piece of paper.
Make sure that you are copying the SSID exactly as displayed in the SSID field.
Pay attention to capital letters, spaces or special characters.
Go to your Wii.
On the Wii main menu, click on the "Wii" button in the lower left corner.
The Wii Settings screen is displayed.

Click on the "Wii Settings" icon on the right side of the screen.
Click on the blue arrow on the right side of the screen to move to page 2 of the Wii Settings options.
Scroll down and click on the "Internet" button.
Click on "Connection Settings."
Click on your wireless connection.
Click on "Manual Setup."
Click the blue arrow to find the SSID field.
Carefully compare the SSID entered in the Wii's SSID Settings field to the SSID that you wrote down from your router settings.
If these SSIDs are not identical, change the Wii SSID to match your network's SSID.
If the SSIDs match, the SSID is not the problem with your Wii setup.

Got new internet service. Now I can't connect the internet to the wii!! I need a SSID and I don't where I get that from

Hello! SSID stands for wireless network name. This means that whenever you wanted to connect to your router, you need to know your SSID to join your network. This works very similar in connecting a new laptop to your router. Below is an example in checking the wireless network a Windows 7 Operating System is connected to. "RABBIT and maculit" are examples of SSID. I hope this helps.

I have inserted my Netflix Watch Instantly DVD into the WII and I have wireless internet service at home, the console asked me to enter the SSID number so I figured this was my wireless network password...

Hello,

The SSID(network name) is actually the name you give the router. When you are on a wireless device and look at available wireless routers in range, the name you see is the SSID. You can see the SSID in multiple ways,

Login to your router admin page by going to the router ip address(usually 192.168.1.1) and log in. After you log in, go to the wireless settings and confirm your SSID.

If you have a wireless device like a laptop, you can view all available wireless routers in range and you should see yours show up. Check what the name of it is(SSID) and use that and input it into your Wii.

How do i get the ssid code or how do i hook my wii up 4 a wireless internet

the SSID is the name of your router and most of the time the wep key you need is marked under the router, the first thing is to search for the SSID( your routers name) on your nintendo wii, when you have found the right SSID witch by the way should be the strongest signal around as it should be the nearest signal, then you need to put in the wep key ( the same wep key you have on your pc,) that is if you have secured wireless signal, if you have an open signal you should be able to search for the SSID, and when you found the right SSID you just need to connect.
Hope it helps!!

What is the ssid

Ok SSID stands for Service Set Identifier. When you have a wireless device, the signal that it is transmitting needs to be given a name so that its signal can be seperated from all the other signals in a particular area. For example if you have a BT Home Hub wireless router and a Netgear wireless router, when you carry out a wireless signal search they will come up as 2 different names. If you are trying to set up your Wii for wireless access you can choose for your Wii to search for SSID's automatically. If you don't know your wireless routers' SSID you can look on the back of it and it should be on a label or on a card supplied with the router. I hope this helps you out and thank you for using FixYa
