A projection TV is like the old movie reels in a theater in that it takes the image and projects it onto the screen which is different than other TV's that have pixels on the actual screens.
There could be something blocking the projection that has simply fallen in the way or the projector inside has fallen out of alignment or a plug that sends the video information is not plugged in completely inside anymore.
Be vary careful with opening any TV because they can often have residual electricity in capacitors, etc so I'm not responsible for any mishaps.

SOURCE: PROBLEM WITH MITSUBISHI WS 55411

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 PART # 283P044020 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT

this is very common with these sets. the fix is to replace 11 very very smal capacitor on what is known as the hypermodule. The ideal sitation is to replace the hypermodule. if you can find it. I can do this repair. I have done about 10 at the shop. if you need to i would suggest finding someone who is very experence in surface mounted repair

SOURCE: Cleaning the bulbs and mirror on my Mitsubishi 55" WS-55313 TV.

You should re-consider having a tech do that for you. The access is by removing the screen assmbly which are somewhat fragile. If you want to give it a try, pull the speaker grill off, it comes off just from pulling it, there should be five screws across the bottom of the screen assy, remove those, there is also an access door on the front of the set with four screws, that has to be removed to unplug the cable that goes to the screen sensors. The screen assy has to be lifted straight up an inch or two and then you can pull it forward away from the set.
As far as cleaning the mirror and lenses, you can't get to the face of the tubes so it's the top of the lenses that you clean, just use a soft lint free cloth (cloth baby diaper) and wipe the dust off the lenses, you can slightly dampen the cloth with water if necessary, same type of cloth on the mirror and you can use a glass cleaner on it just don't press too hard on the mirror.

I have a 55 inch rear projection mitsubishi tv. it recently has started showing what looks to be white spots when viewed at a distance on a dark screen. when you look at it closely it actually is red green...

It is called Convergence. You have three CRTs. Red, blue, Green. When they are not aligned, you will see the individual colors. See if you can do some alignment in the users menu. Look for Converge or Convergence in the menu. Either under video or setup.

My son was moving his WS-55517 and during cabinet

You better take this TV to the Hospital. A local tech will be able to explain to you what needs done. This is the best solution, as you can certainly make things worse.......And its safer!!!!

Shuts off after 15 minutes

Most likely you have picture tube coolant leakage on the power board. Have an authorized Mitsubishi service shop take a close look.

Cobwebs behind the screen of a 55" projection screen. How do I remove screen to clean the TV? I have a Mitisubishi WS-55809.

Hello morsec,

You will need to remove the screws on the back of the top half of the TV set. This will allow you to remove the top rear half of the TV and give you access to the screen. Make sure you do not break the mirror that is attached to the rear of the TV set. Clean the screen with a damp non-abrasive cloth dry with a dry non-abrasive cloth. When finish replace the back of the TV and tighten the screws to hand tightness.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

The best ways to move my 55 inch Mitsubishi TV to another home?

Move it with an appliance hand truck and do not lay it on it's side. When transporting, always keep unit standing upright. Good Luck
