I have an Infinity Entra Sub Woofer. Don't feel it has enough bass thump on it. I have enough power using a 5.1.Yamaha receiver with 150 watts per channel. What s the best placement for front facing wall or back?

Best to start at the beginning. You have it connected properly? Are you using the line level, direct or speaker inputs? What output on your receiver are you using?
Have you adjusted the volume control?
If you have everything correct, are you the original owner? It's an older model so if you are the original owner what happened when it stopped working? Noises, fade out, just wouldn't turn on one day.
Are you capable of doing some minor electrical work? Can you read a schematic? Can you recognise electrical parts? If the answer to any of these last three questions is no, you need to take it to someone that has the ability to do electrical repairs. If the answer to all three is yes you can fix this yourself.
if you have your front and centers set to 'small' you want your Bass out to be subwoofer only, and the rca jack labeled 'sub out' is the only place to connect your sub to if you want to control the frequencies with your reciever. I dont know the brand of your sub, or the inputs on the back of it to advise you where to connect, but it sounds like it worked for you at one time, but suddenly it does not
There is no point.
The woofer(sub woofer) just delivers the bass. You usually put the sub woofer out of the way under your desk.
Without the other speakers you would just get the thumping bass and no treble
You will need an amplifier or 2 channel receiver. Hook the sub out rca jack to the rca inputs on this new amp or receiver and hook the speaker terminals on sub to speaker terminals on same amp or receiver. Your Yamaha receiver doesn't have any power for a passive sub.Just pick up any old fairly high powered receiver for fifty dollars and you're good to go.I use old dolby pro logic receivers as they are a dime a dozen today. Good luck.
Setting the RX-V861 remote control to operate Zone 2:
Using a ballpoint pen or similar object and press the [CODE SET] button RX-V861 remote control. The[TRANSMIT INDICATOR]on the remote should flash twice.
Using the [NUMERICAL KEY PAD] on the remote and key in 9992, the [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] should flash.
Assigning the receivers internal amp for Zone 2:
Set the remote control selector to [AMP]. (Located to the right of the volume buttons on the Remote.).
Press the [SET MENU]button on the remote control.
Arrow down to Manual Setup and press the Enter button on the remote control.
Arrow to the [SOUND MENU] option and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
Arrow to Speaker Set and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
Arrow to the EXTRA SP ASSIGN and select ZONE2
Press the [RETURN] button on the remote control to exit out and return to the Manual Setup.
NOTES: There is an option for setting the Maximum Volume and Initial Volume in the Zone Set menu.
Max Volume: This is an optional feature but isrecommended to prevent the accidental change in volume levels thatcould damage the speakers and receiver.
Initial Volume: This is also a great feature that would seamlessly start the volume level for the second or third zone at the desired level.
We do not recommend using any Speaker Selector boxes to enable more than the recommended number of speakers per terminal. Controlling Zone 2 using the RX-V861 remote control:
If the Main Zone on the receiver is on, press the [POWER BUTTON]down and while holding that button down press the [PHONO]/[**] button on the remote. The [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] will light up.
You will not be able to use the following buttons on the remote: (Pressing any other button will cause the remote to exit Zone 2 mode. [POWER], [STANDBY], [VOLUME], [MUTE] and the [INPUT SELECTOR] buttons [DVD], [CD], etc.)
There are the instructions as written straight from yamaha. If you need any further assistance please let me know. Thank you, Lee
Check your speaker settings in Setup menu / Speaker Setup / Manual / Config (and then in this submenu also Equalizer). In Config, choose where should low frequency sound go - subwoofer and/or front speakers (if they are big enough). The settings are: Bass Out: SWFR/Front/Both. Also check Subwoofer phrase in SWFR Phase. Check settings of all speakers, they can be Large / Small / None. If small, frequencies lower than "Crossover" settings, will not be put on them.
When you touch tone button on your front panel repeatedly, you will get two option for setting bass and trebble, when you select Bass immediatly press your updown Sound field Program Button.
Please note:for better sound if your using Small front speaker keep bass to 0db and select the low frequency through sub woofer and program manually LFE from only Sub woofer and addjust CUT off frequency of Subwoofer to 160 and incase if your bass is not clear put it into rev mode.
I had the same problem. When I opened it up, the fuse was blown, and it was a pain to find the fuse it needs (3 Amp, 250 V slow-blow fuse, 5x20 mm). Also, the 2 large electrolytics (big purple things near the amp) and one small capacitor were all blown. For 4 fuses, bought seperately from, and the 2 electrolytics and 1 capacitor, it cost about $20, plus almost 20 more in shipping, which still isnt bad considering the original price of the sub. However, the tricky part is that you have to know how to use a soldering iron to take out the old components and put in the new ones.
.70 WATTS MINIMUM of continuous RMS power to each of the five channels into 8W from 20 Hz to 20 kHz . If this unit wont drive your sub then somethings wrong with it or the subs as I got these specs from the owners manual. Now your aware you will not really hear per say all the bass from your sub but will feel like yuou do. I have had peeps that wanna hear the thump down to your bones but thats the problem you wont unless your drive the subs way way up.Your true norm bass is from your front and rear left and right for the normal hearing range. I hope you understand what im trying to say here. And no there is no modification per say to increase the output and this amp IS NOT made to be bridged. Good luck
