Jet 3 Ultra Power Chair Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 15, 2011

My mom has a Jet 3 Ultra and by reading other comments it sounds like we need a new battery, so I have 2 questions: 1 - where do we buy the battery 2 - how do we replace/install the battery - can we do this at our house and is the battery disposable in our trash pickup? thanks!

Did Medicare pay for Mom's chair? If they did then they will pay for 80% the repair to the chair. You can contact Repair Express @ 1-877-581-3733 or Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 they are both excellent repair companies and will schedule a tech to pick up mom's chair leave a loaner and fix the chair for her. Now if Mom bought her chair then she will have to pay for the batteries and all other repairs needed (lets hope not). The chair needs 2 U1 sealed batteries and they can be purchased through the provider where she got the chair or at any good battery outlet like Interstate Battery. I would avoid Internet stores because of the shipping costs. Do not get them from Wal Mart or any other chain store because they do not sell sealed deep cycle batteries required for your chair. The batteries will cost you around $200.00 for both. The provider will probably charge you more. You have to unplug the joystick cable, remove the seat from the base and take the shroud off the base and there you will see the 2 batteries. Remove the wiring harness and remove the batteries reinstall the new batteries wiring them like the old ones, replace the shroud and the seat hook up the joystick cable push the on/off switch and pray that it comes on (lol). The old batteries can be recycled through any battery dealer in your area Hope this helps. If you have any questions you can reach me @ [email protected]

My neighbour just got a used 03 Jet 3. It had been parked in a car port for the past 3 years. It has new batteries and the controler indicates full charge. The problen is the chair will do a full 360 rotation to the right, but will only do about 10 degrees to the left when it feel the brakes stop it. Of course that means no forward movement (about 2 inches) Controler lights flash rapidlt and indicate a code 8.which by the book is a controller problem. It feels that it's more to do with a motor/brake problem. What gives???

Pride Jazzy Jet 3 Ultra Electric Wheelchair. Fuse keeps blowing I was given a Jet 3 Ultra for my mom .. I bought new batteries and installed them.. charged them over night ..

Question edited for clarity.

You have a dead short somewhere. You need some electrical knowledge and a digital multimeter for testing. Take all the covers off. Look for wiring that has rubbed through and touching or melted. Disconnect one of the motors and replace the fuse. If it still blows, reconnect that one and disconnect the other motor. If one motor doesn't blow and the other does, you know you have a faulty motor. If neither stop the issue, then you move up to the controller and look up there. With a meter you can check for shorts within the motors, as well as grounds.

Or just take it to a Service Centre and have it repaired and serviced properly.

I have a blue jet 3 ultra n i just put 2 new batterys on it and all it will do is flash a red light in the top left corner of the battery light on the joy stick and the horn works but will not move what...

Check your battery wiring on the Jet the wires from the circuit breaker need to connect the positive of the front battery to the negative of the rear battery and the other wires connected to the positive of the rear battery and negative of the front battery putting the batteries in series to generate 24+ volts. If you have a voltmeter before you check the wiring set it to 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the 2 outter holes of the charger port located under the front of the joystick. If your batteries are wired correctly you should be reading 27+ volts without the charger plugged in and your batteries fully charged. If you are only reading 12 volts then the wiring is wrong and needs to be fixed. Leaving the voltmeter in the charger port plug in your charger and you should be reading 27 -30+ volts at the charger port anything less than 24 volts indicates your charger is not charging Hope this helps

We have a problem with the joystick controller on my Mom's Jet 3 Ultra Pride. Is it possible to fix that?

The joystick is a sealed unit. If there is a problem with the joystick then you have to replace the whole unit.
