I know you guys already have a post that mentions this oddity, but have you heard anything else about the wii console's sound just not working anymore for no reason? A week ago, my wii worked fine, sound and all. Today there's no sound from the console. I tested the wii remotes and they have sound. There's no sound on the wii menu and onward.
Any ideas on how much it costs to fix this? Any word on why this is happening? I see 10 people have posted about this.

The only other thing you can do is try a system format and then update. Other than that You will have to send to nintendo for repairs. Mine was warrantied So I don't know how much it costs. The only other thing you can do is try a system format and then update. Other than that You will have to send to nintendo for repairs. It could very well be the fact that it has stopped working and has now died on you guys also. You can be another Wii console from Lukie Games or DKOldies or JJ games or East Starland games.
Hello Please try the below mentioned process to troubleshoot the issue.
Set the Wii console to output 480 lines of video.
While on the Wii Channel Menu (main screen of the Wii), connect a Nunchuk to Wii Remote.
Select the Virtual Console game from the Wii menu, then select "Start" to begin the game.
When the game starts, press the Home button on the Wii Remote. (In many games, the music can be heard when the game starts.)
Select "Operations Guide" from the Home menu.
Press the Z + A + 2 Button simultaneously (the Z Button is on the Nunchuk). A sound will be heard if the button combination has been entered correctly.
Close the Home menu. The game display should now be correct.
Reboot your wireless internet and move your Wii closer to the source of the wireless internet. If this doesn't work, you can purchase a LAN extension for you wii and hook it up to the internet directly through a wired connection. Let me know if you need anything else.
This is a perfect example of needing to reset the power cable. I know you've already tried unplugging it, but here is how you reset it. Unplug your power cable from the wall and your Nintendo Wii for 10-15 minutes so that it isn't plugged into anything. Then plug it in. This sounds silly, but it really should solve the problem. Good luck and please rate.
I don't think changing the TV would make any difference because the console isn't even loading up the disc. To play an NTSC game you would have to use a console from an NTSC area like the US. I'm sure Japan is NTSC as well. I've heard about Freeloader. Ever since I bought an Action Replay cartridge for my N64 I've never trusted Datel (who manufacture Freeloader). It really mucked up my N64. On the other hand I know many people who use Datel products and the like with no probs. I suppose if you got nothing to lose then try Freeloader.
I heard you can download this manual and it doesn't have viruses or anything like that http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/downloads/Wii_Manual_UK_DE_FR_NL.pdf
(befory you read this, please excuse my leinghyness)
Well,
If you take apart the Wii very carefully, you might be able to get the game out (which you will most likely never be able to play again because the clicking noise is most likely the disc being rubbed against something) without causing damage to the Wii. Doing this is risking causing damage to your Wii (and yourself if you are too dumb to un-plug it.) so if you have bought your Wii less than a year ago,

sounds like slot disc loading mechanism gearing is misaligned.. Slot drives are difficult to fiddle with, I suggest you try to get this repaired under warranty, (don't mention that you dropped it though, just say it stopped working)
I have the same problem. I even got new cables thing that was the issue, but its not! Help please!
