Panasonic DMC-FZ18. Unable to download pictures to Camera and Scanner Wizard -
Sony VAIO running Windows XP SP2. Camera and Scanner Wizard appears to recognize camera and begins download but "freezes" after 6 or 7 pictures and " unable to copy file"message comes up.
Re: Panasonic DMC-FZ18. Unable to download pictures to...
It would appear that DMC-FZ18 cannot reliably communicate with Windows XP. However if SD card is removed from camera and connected directly to computer there is no problem.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
you have to put the camera in view mode first ...and select pict bridge ..than follow the instructions on your camera ...probably will have to accept connection or confirm transfer ..

I just found that I have taken pictures with my DMC-FZ18 without the disk in. It says I have several picture on the cameras hard drive. How do I download these to my computer. Help!!!!!!
PROBABLY NOT - YOU SHOULD TRY AND GET THE ''WIZARD'' TO INSTALL YOUR CAMERA...IT SHOULD RECOGNIZE IT AND THEN INSTALL...YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR PICTURES THEN...
try using and SD card reader instead of the software that came with it. then you know if it is a software issue or a problem with how your camera saves the photos. It's also quicker using an SD card reader and drag/drop - copy/paste etc.
Putting Sd card directly into slot on computer
Copying to Pentax ACD See
Copying 2 or 3 photos ok then listing remaining photos 'Not Copied'
Any suggestions?
Thank you
