Panasonic dmc-fz18 camera. The Flash is always used, even if the flash cover is closed. I can see the flash light escape from inside the camera and hear a fuzzy click. Is it broken or is it a setting?
I have a lumix camera, more then likely it has gotten wet or it took a dive, here is what I would try, mind you! I'm taking a shot in the dark & this is a total "hail merry pass" first you need to get all the door type panels open, anything that flips up or open, remove the battery & memory card, buy some canned air for electronics & give it a good shot! do not use the compressor at the local gas station! particulate matter at high speeds is not good for sensitive consumer electronics, "like a photo device" figure a way prop & tip the device so that any condensation can rise & escape from the top, maybe it's your memory card slot? Let your common sence guide you, now your going to get a small area heater, turn it on HIGH HEAT & hold your hand in front. judge the distance so that it's hot, but you can still hold your hand there, without having to pull away.. I think you see were I'm going with this, My friend had a very pricey video production device, he had on loan, & it got just a tiny spray from the wake of a boat & it went in the dead zone. we though it was kaput'z! lucky we were in Arizona & did that trick, except we propped the device in the car in the garage, 12 hours latter, we turned it on & worked perfect! Best Wishes! I hope this helps? P.S. If that don't work & you want to go for broke "how brave are you? see that Lil Philips screw right by the flash?" it's 5% talent & 95% common since...
