Bearing oil clearance and new size bearing

No the oil clearance is correct for BOTH bearings @ .022 -.046 mm to try to get a true clearance measurement use a micrometer and measure in 4 places 90 degrees part this will check for out of round journal and compare to a factory journal size. there may be a .001 thousand or .002 thousand undersize bearing insert that will bring oil clearance in to specs. but most connecting rods get black from a spun bearing and they need to stay round so a inside micrometer is used to check that 10 times out 10 the connecting rod is replaced.

What are the rod and main bearing torque specs for a 96 chevy S-10 2.2?

The torque spec for the main bearing caps on a 2.2 are 105 nm or 77 ft lbs all. But you know if your doing the crank there is a lot more to it then the torque . The main bearing clearance is 0.0006 to 0.0019 and the rod clearance is even tighter 0.00098 to 0.0031.
the connecting rod 45Nm or 34 lbs ft i hope be help you
Well good luck

My 99 f150 sounds like a diesel when cranking but goes away immediately after starting

t sounds like you have bad rod bearings. The mod motors didn't have a good track record of main and rod bearing life. When you're starting the car cold, what you're hearing is the excessive clearances of the rod bearings banging around until the oil pressure comes up and moves oil around creating a barrier between the bearings and the crank.

Im trying to put new connecting rod berrings in my 1984 f 150 300 stright six i have my oil pan off but im not sure how to do this type of job do you have any suggestions

fist of all r u putting in mains too u should replace them all at once. to start u need a good torque wrench and some plastigauge and a book with all ur specs. u can get it at most parts stores. ok take the cap off of one and using a small block or wood or a mallat. not a hammer. knock the cap off and the connecting rod up about a half inch. clean good and put the new bearing in. no oil should get on the back of the bearing. a little assembly grease on the inside of the bearing. ok take ur plastigauge and put a new bearing in dry on both top and bottom. use a small piece of the plastigauge and put it on the bearing and torque it down, then take it apart and messure how much it smashed it out. that tells u the clearance. if its in spec then u carfully take the smashed plastic out and grease it good and put in back in and torque it down. do the same for all the rest. if you have a plastigauge showing too much clearance u may still be ok if its realy close but if its mor then 3 to 5 past spec u need a new crank, or have it turned down. remember most specs list new and max. dont go over the max because with new bearing just think how much u had with the old ones

How do i stop my rods from knocking

There is no cure for that other than taking out the engine and tearing it down and replacing the rod bearings. There is probably too much clearance between the bearings and the crank journals do to worn bearings.

I need to know how to replace rod bearings in a 98 eclipse

Well, the answer is to unbolt the rod cap, install new bearings and retorque.

But I worry about this repair. The reason that the bearings failed must be resolved, before any repair is performed. This repair requires that the surfaces be true and that the clearance is correct at at least three places across the rod bearing surface.

You can measure with micrometers, but if you remove all oil, you can measure with a product called platicgauge.

Have a 2005 for f-150 started with ticking, knocking noise with no power. they changed the spark plugs did not help the truck is at Bickford Motor in Snohomish wash. they think it is the cam. do you have...

The ticking would be a bad valve lifter, bent or broken push rod
As far as the knocking, could be:
cam bearing, or cam
crank bearing
rod bearing
Might even be the knock sensor.

I'm looking for the 2000 isuzu rodeo 3.2L v6 connecting rod bearings torque specs.

1. Check the connecting rod alignment If either the bend or the twist exceeds the specified limit, the connecting rod must be replaced. Bend per 100 mm (3.937 inch) Limit: 0.15 (0.0059) Twist per 100 mm (3.937 inch) Limit: 0.20 (0.0078)

2. Measure the connecting rod thrust clearance. Use a feeler gauge to measure the thrust clearance at the large end of the connecting rod If the clearance exceeds the specified limit, the connecting rod must be replaced. Standard: 0.16 mm - 0.35 mm (0.0063 inch - 0.0138 inch) Limit: 0.40 mm (0.0157 inch)

3. Measure the oil clearance between the connecting rod and the crankshaft.

    1. Remove the connecting rod cap nuts and the rod caps (12). Arrange the removed rod caps in the cylinder number order.
    2. Clean the rod bearings and the crankshaft pins.
      1. Carefully check the rod bearings. If even one bearing is found to be damaged or badly worn, the entire bearing assembly must be replaced as a set. Reinstall the bearings in their original positions. Apply plastigage to the crank pin.
      2. Reinstall the rod caps (12) to their original positions. Tighten the rod cap nuts. Torque: 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) Note: Do not allow the crankshaft to rotate.
      3. Remove the rod caps.
        1. Measure the width of the plastigage and determine the oil clearance. If the oil clearance exceeds the limit, replace the rod bearing as a set. Standard: 0.019 mm - 0.043 mm (0.0007 inch - 0.0017 inch) Limit: 0.08 mm (0.003 inch)
        2. Clean the plastigage from the bearings and the crankshaft pins.
