I bought a wiring harness for my honda to hook up my stereo deck and but it wont turn on, are the color codes different or just match the color to color??

Yes, It's a very good possibility that you will have a few wires left over. Normally a wire for an aftermarket amp to be triggered on when you turn your radio on and possibly a power antenna or a dimming function that dims your radio lights when your headlights are on. It of course always depends on if you have a power antenna or not, or if you have an aftermarket amp or not or if you have the dimming feature on your car or not. These wires don't apply to everyone.
You will just match the colors between the wiring harness that came with the DUAL radio and the interface adapter that goes to your car. Make sure you use **** style crimp connectors. If not the wires could come loose or cause a popping noise or cause the radio to turn off while driving.
Other than that, installing an aftermarket radio is mostly matching the colors up between the two harnesses and crimping the wires together.

go to store that sells car decks and look for a wiring harness for ur car its about $7 mybe and prettymuch match the colors on ur deck to the harness and then pull ur old deck out and pull the harness from the back the back of that deck and plug that into the wire harness u just bought and hook up the antenna for radio andput the deck into the dash the wire harness should also come with so directions too just in case

hoy cr*p. Thats a big question. I'm used to the simple hook up of red = hot wire, black equal ground wire, and white usually goes to the speakers. MOST electronic equipment use red as the "hot wire"...or the wire that is the main electrical wire. If your colors dont match, you might talk to a shop that specializes in installing car stereos. Good luck. thats how they make their money, but depending on the price you may decide not to mess with it yourself. Just label the wires with tape when you find out.

Stereo dealers have wire harness adapters for almost every make and model of car. It will come with a connector both with color coded pigtails that are usually prestripped. The package will described which wires go where and their color codes. The deck you bought should have a pigtail with color coded wires and they'll match up to the ones on the harness adapter for your car.
After connecting them all properly, you can take your deck with the attached pigtail and plug adapter and plug it directly into your car stereo plug where your old radio was connected...don't forget the anntenna lead as well... Not to difficult...email if you get stuck...

you will need to get a cord that connects to the sterio and then you need to match them up with these wires
the colors for the radio that are hooked up to the car are

• orange is power
• red is egnition
• blue is power antena
• black is ground

other ones will most likely be the sterio wires you just need to find colors that look a like and they will most likely match

Yes this is not to bad to deal with.. make sure you use quality wire connectors so you don't have problems later with bad connections. you pretty much just have to match the colors from the harness in the car to the ones on your deck. If you don't want to cut off the harness connector on your deck just purchase one that you can connect to your deck and cut the wire ends on the other side of the adapter. The only wires you wont be able to match color for color is speaker wires... for these you will just have to hook them up temp. and test to see that they are connected to the proper speaker output. Best thing to do is purchase a Radio Wiring Harness. These can be purchased at a Store like Circuit City, Best Buy, WalMart (not sure of your location) or a 12 Volt Specialty shop.

This harness will connect to your new radio harness and plug directly into the vehicle harness without having to cut wires. The Radio Wiring Harness will come with color identification to match to your radio harness.
