Should I buy a new battery or charger first? Which is more likely to be bad?

I wouldn't have to buy one, I own several and suggest you might want to acquire one too.
Digital multimeters that can measure AC/DC voltage, resistance and current are available for under $20 US at auto parts stores and electronic shops like Radio Shack that would allow you to quickly determine which is defective and are useful to anyone for home and auto use.
They are simple to use, even though the Chinglish instructions may be a little tougher.
Don't spend more than mentioned since the additional accuracy and features are pretty useless to a layman.

Buy the battery first. It is more likely to go bad (they have a finite life), but if it turns out that you need to buy a charger as well, the battery won't be a waste, as it is handy to have a spare.

Battery will not charge, charger flashes red and green

If both lights are blinking on the charger after putting the battery on to charge, the battery is no longer chargeable. Most likely it's bad cells inside the battery, the charger is reading the battery as bad and will not charge it. The only fix is to buy a new battery.

My P305 will not charge the battery

A friend of mine had a bad battery. I advised her to buy a new battery, which worked fine for several months. Then she called and said her laptop would not work on battery or even plugged in. I had her buy a new charger. A week later, she called and it was not working again. We tried several things (she is some distance away) and finally I had her go get the cord from her old charger (luckily the trash had not been picked up yet) and it worked fine. So even new things can go bad - it sounds like the battery charger or the cord might be at fault.

Won't acknowledge the charger!

Either you have a bad charger, bad battery, or the charging port on the phone is bad.

1. Try a different charger. (Like your car charger instead of your home charger. Or your buddies charger) If one works and one doesn't, you found your problem chargers do go bad.

2. If this wasn't your problem. Next I'd buy another battery - usually you can get one for less than $10 online. If the new one works, woohoo problem solved toss the bad battery.

3. If the new battery does the same thing, its the phone. If it's verizon and less than 12 months old, call them - its probably under 1 yr warranty they might replace it free - as long as the white sticker near the battery is still white (water detection is pink/red). And it's not crushed or dented/damaged.

Battery Won't Stay Charged

well if you have recieved new batteries and they wont stay charged then the problem isn't the batteries apparently. It could possibly be that your charger has gone bad and isn't charging your battery all the way. I suggest buying a new charger and it should fix your problem and if it's not your charger then it must be the outlet supplying voltage to the charger going bad. More than likely you need a new charger cause it seems like its not getting the voltage it needs to charge your phone.

Nokia 1100 not charging

Sounds like either a bad battery or bad charger. If company wont replace and you definately want to use this phone...buy a new charger and see if thats the prob...if not, try a new battery using the new charger. If neither solves the prob you have 2 choices... 1. Send to Nokia for repair or 2. Chunk it and buy a new phone. Good Luck!

Won't turn on at all

WELL, THERE ARE THINGS TO CONSIDER HERE. HOW OLD WAS THE BATTERY THAT YOU WERE CHARGING? IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE CHARGER HAS FAILED ALSO. IF YOU HAD A METER YOU COULD READ THE CHARGER TO SEE IF IT WAS PUTTING OUT A CHARGE. IF YOU DON'T, YOU HAVE TWO POSSIBILITIES. ONE IS BUY A NEW BATTERY AND USE IT AND THEN TRY TO CHARGE IT AND SEE IF THE CHARGER WORKS. THE OTHER IS SEE IF ANY OF YOUR FRIENDS HAVE A CHARGER YOU COULD CHARGE YOUR BATTERY ON TO SEE IF THE BATTERY TAKES A CHARGE. I WOULD SAY IT WOULD PROBABLY BE BETTER TO BUY THE BATTERY BECAUSE YOU COULD ALWAYS USE THE EXTRA BATTERY, OR IF YOUR PRESENT BATTERY HAS DIED, YOU WILL HAVE A REPLACEMENT.IF THE CHARGER IS BAD YOU CAN RETURN IT FOR A REFUND OR REPLACEMENT FROM THE SELLER AS DEFECTIVE. MOST SELLERS WILL REPLACE ANY BAD PRODUCTS. YOU CAN ALWAYS GAMBLE AND RETURN THE CHARGER NOW AS DEFECTIVE AND GET A REPLACEMENT AND THEN TRY TO CHARGE YOUR BATTERY AGAIN. SO, YOU HAVE MANY OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM. I HOPE THIS GIVES YOU SOME IDEAS, BUT IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, JUST REPLY TO: ARCLIGHT1217
