it sounds like the gears aren't meshed. Switch the speed selector between high and low speed and maybe give the chuck a wiggle when you do it.

It's a lithium battery.I can tell .Have same problem sometimes. Either need to clean the contacts on the battery and drill (use Paslode tool cleaner,aereole spray) or get a new battery. Most of my battery powered tools are Ridgid, I like them and they usually hold up , but like any other brand they can be unreliable. I buy an average of 5 new batteries a year. Some last about 6 weeks , others 3 years.

your batery has shorted you need a new batery I sugest you get another tool with same bater and charger just the batery alone will almost 1/2 this much
