My hp laserjet 4 plus tells me i'm out of memory

HP LaserJet 1022 is a "host-based" printer so it must be connected to a PC. Load the driver on PC first and connect the USB cable when software tells you to do so.

Will not work on a Linksys print server.

LaserJet 1022N & LaserJet 1022NW have "special" HP print servers that can support HP host based printers.

The LaserJet 4 plus I have worked with had a paper tray that was adjustable for letter or legal. If yours is not, there should be a door on the front of the printer that will pull down at the top, and is hinged on the bottom. Open the door, you will be able to extend the "paper tray" and put a small amount of legal sheets on it. Go to the menu and tell it to print to this paper tray, I believe it is paper tray one.

Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.hp.com
and do a search for your specific model.
Select your Operating System.
Download the device-drivers.
Install them.

GE TOO COMPLEX The data (dense text, rules, raster or vector graphics) sent to the printer is too complex Press GO to print the transferred data. (Some data might be lost.) Advise the customer to simplify the print job. More memory might help.

You will need the network card for starters. If you have one let me know and I can help, or repost.

You don't have to initialize the extra memory on that printer. Just install it and when you power on the printer it will recognize the extra memory. If you mean install, then go to www.HP.com and look at the instruction manual in the support section. I believe you have to extract the formatter board from the rear and then you should see the place where the chips should go.
